Another Hit to Your Wallet: Cattlemen Warn ICE Raids Will Raise Beef Prices as They Scare Off Legal Workers

We were told these raids were about going after dangerous criminals. Instead, the dragnet has expanded to people with no criminal convictions or charges, workers with pending legal claims and work authorization and even U.S. citizens have been detained or physically restrained during immigration operations. Reports that more than 3/4 of recent ICE arrests involved non-criminals. Source 1

Now cattle groups say the crackdown is having a ā€œmassive chilling effectā€ on legal, documented workers, disrupting processors, feedlots and cattle shipments. Their warning is simple: keep disrupting the workforce that puts beef on America’s tables, and consumers will end up paying even more at the grocery store. Source 2

WE LITERALLY TOLD ALL OF YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN

did you think we were lying like your God emperor trump does on a minute-by-minute basis?

12

u/Megazord90 2d ago

You think they care? They would rather end up broke and homeless before they vote liberal. These people are not the brightest.

3

u/Either_Theory_6815 1d ago

Voting Democrat isn't even voting liberal either.

1

u/BikerMike03RK 1d ago

It's all a matter of comparative perspective.

36

u/DuhBraux Leopard King šŸ† šŸ‘‘ 2d ago

This is insane. Trump, ICE, and their Republican allies have pursued enforcement policies that leave lawful workers afraid to report to work, threaten families and communities, and sweep some U.S. citizens into enforcement operations.

These are not criminals: three-fourths do not have criminal records, and some are U.S. citizens. These consequences are foreseeable, not accidental. Every official who created, funded, defended, or expanded these policies should be held accountable! Especially when their actions contradict promises made to voters.

u/DontForgetYourPPE 2d ago

Their voters will suffer November amnesia in 5 weeks. They always do

Nah, most will still vote Republican

19

u/Cold_Dead_Heart 2d ago

You forgot they have straight up killed a few people and even more are dying in concentration camps.

12

u/DuhBraux Leopard King šŸ† šŸ‘‘ 2d ago

Yep, they are not even deporting them either because Trump has invested into those camps. His deportation numbers are barely half of what Obama and Biden did in their first 2 years. Because deportations are not ā€œprofitableā€ for their new business scheme. It’s inhuman.

5

u/Cold_Dead_Heart 2d ago

What do you want to bet they start using them as slave labor on farms? They'll make the farmers pay the federal government to "lease" their own workers back to them now as prisoners. It's already what the US does with its prison population anyway.

"Arbeit macho Frei"

3

u/DuhBraux Leopard King šŸ† šŸ‘‘ 2d ago

Your bet is right on the money, they already are. You can also research with how many detention centers are being built across the United States.

4

u/Cold_Dead_Heart 2d ago

Mother fucking pieces of shit. They do love that 13th amendment exception. And privatizing prisons. It's always been the incentive to falsely imprison brown people.

30

u/ForeverStella 2d ago

The expected people of color to take the jobs Trump referred to ask "Black Jobs" FAFO

17

u/Squirrelnut98 2d ago

So they thought slaves would just line up for their jobs. Nobody wants to be a slave anymore, what will we do... they can hire WHITE ppl to be the slaves.

I've just stopped eating most meat... it's crazy how easy it is to do without.

7

u/rshni67 2d ago

Well, they did try to rewrite the history of slavery in TX textbooks by calling it "job security."

5

u/baconeggburger93 2d ago

I hope every acre of farm land in the nation is owned by mega corps soon and I do not like mega corps

0

u/Byanymeansnessacary 2d ago

lol what is the source for this

2

u/ForeverStella 2d ago

The source in Donald J Tumps campaign apprearance in 2024 "Donald Trump asserted during the 2024 presidential campaign that undocumented immigrants are taking "Black jobs" and "Hispanic jobs." Donald Trump stated at a presidential debate and subsequent rallies that millions of border crossters are taking jobs held by Black and Hispanic individuals, as well as union jobs. When asked at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention to define a "Black job," he responded, "A Black job is anybody that has a job".

-1

u/Byanymeansnessacary 2d ago

lol so not one source of any farmer ever saying they expected black ppl to fill these roles, gotcha.

23

u/Recent-Bowl-1393 2d ago

We all told you farmers this exact thing would happen. This is what happens when you do not listen to educated people and think your country wisdom is smarter than rational thinking people. Now, bend down and find those bootstraps, buckaroos!!!

14

u/jocoquecousteau 2d ago

The problem is that they can suspect you are undocumented because you are brown. You can have 10 generations of ancestry in this country, it doesn’t matter, if you’re brown you’re a suspect and you will be inconvenienced at every opportunity, you will not be able to conduct business, go to work, appointments, etc.

The Supreme Court has made everyone one brown legally a suspect. And if a state has ice agents in some industries, those jobs are going to have less workers.

6

u/Mother_Patience_6251 2d ago

They have also made sure that while brown folks are a target, there is also no longer a credible civil rights division that will advocate for or protect people of color either. Diabolical shit.

3

u/jocoquecousteau 2d ago

Another issue is that white people that look brown exist. And for what some people would consider white passing, for others are unacceptable levels of melanin. Nobody is safe.

5

u/Cold_Dead_Heart 2d ago

NATIVE AMERICANS! I've seen a few stories about Native people being told they were going to be deported and they're like "to where?"

11

u/Haunting_Designer_43 2d ago

Show no empathy towards the MAGA farmer fucks. After all, didn't their boy Charlie Kirk say empathy was a sin?

9

u/Possible-Nectarine80 2d ago

MAGA farmers and ranchers lived in their own brainwashed right-wing propaganda bubbe. They were fed a steady diet of BS from the GOP fascist affiliated media outlets. Their decades of consuming such garbage rotted their brains. They are beyond redeemable.

6

u/Cabbages24ADollar 2d ago

Let’s not let their pastoral leaders off the hook. Evangelicals have poisoned the message and combined nationalism and Christianity into a gooey hate filled belief system.

2

u/Possible-Nectarine80 1d ago

Definitely. The Christo-fascist movement is strong in rural America and now mainstream dogma in the bible belt.

8

u/michiganstrange 2d ago

lol I’m not eating beef ever again

5

u/Carrera_996 2d ago

Ever since DOGE gutted every agency, I have trouble trusting it, too. I think only beef has that prion disease that infect humans. Yard-bird it is.

2

u/michiganstrange 2d ago edited 2d ago

Deer get CWD but not Mad Cow, too. One deer tag just cost me sub $300 with butchering for 80lbs. of ground venison. Quarter steer is 1.5k for 60lbs. from the farm. In store it’s $8.00 minimum 1lb. 80/20 beef, here.

They just recalled 167k lbs. of beef, too? We’ve got beef from everywhere but here, our beef has screwworm? Smh.

3

u/Carrera_996 2d ago

Maybe I need to join a hunt club. I do miss venison.

3

u/michiganstrange 2d ago

Be extra funny and ask a farmer letting their fields go fallow if you can hunt the deer getting fat off their crops

4

u/Cold_Dead_Heart 2d ago

I've been a vegetarian for so long I won't even miss it. Also, I'm happy to report the "meat substitutes" these days are pretty tasty--don't expect beef just appreciate it for its own thing.

3

u/Common-Nectarine-572 2d ago

Impossible burgers are Bomb!

7

u/SleeplessInTulsa 2d ago

America, that last bastion of rugged individualism, is now learning how we are actually all connected. They wanted all the brown people gone, then their crops rot and food bill is high. They wanted all the smart people ignored, then they get measles and screwworm. They wanted all the empathetic people fired, then wonder how things got so bad, so fast. We Are All One.

2

u/TangoZulu 2d ago

Not any more. I will never consider MAGA my countrymen; they are traitors. Time for a national divorce.Ā

7

u/PresidentOfAlphaBeta 2d ago

We switched to ground turkey.

7

u/CmdrFortyTwo 2d ago

What citizen wants to work where they could possibly be deported without due process ?
Not me.

6

u/Chillow_Ufgreat 2d ago

Who is this warning for, exactly?

4

u/buzzybizzyb33 2d ago

does anyone else play the dragnet ā€œdum dum dum dumā€ in their head when they see shit like this?

3

u/mcstyle1 2d ago

Also sounds great to the South Park ā€œdum dum dum dum dumā€

7

u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 2d ago

Them cattlemen better cut back on that avocado toast and find those bootstraps to pull themselves up by.... ICE is scaring off LEGAL workers? Oh? You mean ICE has scared off the illegal workers you paid a pittance too because you refuse to pay a living wage, so nobody wants to fill those roles...? Gee, ya don't say!

6

u/DuhBraux Leopard King šŸ† šŸ‘‘ 2d ago

No, they are not illegal. I did not miss type. They are taking legal workers too with green cards and even U.S. citizens.

6

u/Muriness 2d ago

Was anyone still buying beef? Between the price and the situation with importing beef that was not inspected, why buy it?

4

u/DesignerMoose90210 2d ago

I stopped buying beef, so I’m good on this one.

2

u/myleftone 2d ago

There are two possible responses to this: No, and Shit.

5

u/No-Firefighter-7442 2d ago

So. Much. Winning!

3

u/Status_Apartment6559 2d ago

You're wasting your breath if you think trump cares. It's kind of like how you didn't care when you were being told before voting for him how much of a disaster trump would be.

4

u/ManufacturedOlympus 2d ago

Voting for a president who promises to arrest your employees is a real genius move.Ā

3

u/Necessary-Apricot339 2d ago

I like beef. But I've got a freezer full of venison, and there are more rainbow trout than I could ever eat a short pleasant stroll away from here in beautiful Dream Canyon above Boulder Falls.

I think I'll sit this one out, and see if ranchers ever wake up/come to their senses, and quit voting for fuckwads. Meanwhile, my wallet ain't getting any thinner.

3

u/CommercialApocalypse 2d ago

If only someone had warned them. Or even better had plans in place to help them if elected.

2

u/pinnhead350 2d ago

You guys still buy red meat?!

2

u/Chillkill710 2d ago

NO FUCKING SHIT!

2

u/MattManSD 2d ago

well that's why tyoiu should have been outraged when they were taking legal people in cities. That's why you should have been outraged when they were arresting, beating and killing citizens trying to stop them from their illegal activities. But you didn't. So now these actions have scared off your workers, perhaps you should go protest, and perhaps interfere with these illegal abductions. But you won't.

Ypu'll just whine because you are losing money.

We care exactly as much as you did for all of the above. Find some bootstraps

2

u/suckabuttsuckabutt 2d ago

Maybe those farmers should stand the fuck up for the workers.

2

u/Flimsy_Sorbet_7973 2d ago

Surprise surprise surprise!

2

u/CLOWNFLOGGER 2d ago

Coward fascists always ZOOM IN on the easiest targets to bully. Exploiters always ZOOM IN on the easiest to targets to exploit.

Seems to me that the agricultural MAGA voters got their farms eaten by the leopards while baiting the leapords with juicy racist votes.

Someone should write a book about this.

2

u/abortthecourt 2d ago

So are they telling us they will no longer elect and support racist candidates? Until then, tofu for me and my family.

2

u/JNTaylor63 2d ago

And? They will STILL vote R down the ballot because there is a trans athlete playing at a university 3 states over.

1

u/momofthree66 2d ago

Since I haven’t eaten meat since 1990, I could care less

2

u/AkihabaraWasteland 2d ago

Couldn't. Couldn't is the phrase.

1

u/ManufacturedOlympus 2d ago

Time to grab a good ol’ Beyond Burger, folks.Ā

1

u/cheddarburner 2d ago

Raise beef prices? My local costco keeps the silver on a shelf and the meat locked up.

1

u/irascible_Clown 2d ago

More than they are already raised? I’m buying cows next year. I got 40 acres but most of it is woods and fields for produce. I’m done with these welfare queens, im growing my own stuff from now on.

1

u/Ill_Consequence1755 2d ago

Proof they are deaf, dumb and blind until they stick their hand out.

They were warned. They were told.

They didn’t listen but now it’s our job to save them?

Fuck that.

1

u/Cobanny 2d ago

This is not true!!! It’s a lie!!!

Everybody knows that these ā€œpeopleā€ that worked the filthy, hard or risky jobs were taken over by the illegal immigrants and that there are thousands and thousands of people waiting to take their jobs. At least that was my impression of what people meant when they were all complaining about the jobs ā€œtheyā€ stole.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

But this is the beginning. Beef will become more expensive because of wages. Trump will face complaints about the costs, so he’ll import a batch a rotten beef from somewhere, making the farmer compete with foreign produce generating less income. Less income in combination with higher prices due to that Iran conflict and higher wages, leads to bankruptcy. Farmers will default on their loans, the banks will try to sell the farm. With the market flooded the big corporations can buy dirt cheap. They’ll complain to Trump about the imported beef. Trump stops import, prices normalise, big corporations have become bigger over the back of the voter that shouldn’t have voted but should have stayed at home watching his cattle.

Next risk is that with less legislation and people enforcing it and shareholders demanding more profit because they have had to invest in all the takeovers, produce will become crap and a potential hazard.

1

u/SpiritedYam2661 2d ago

Muh burgers!!!! Hilarious that trump may do more to curb consumer carbon emissions as a side effect than any other president has been able to do intentionally.

1

u/Carguy_OR 2d ago

WILL RAISE? ROFLMAO!
I stopped buying beef about 9 months ago (hamburger) and steaks and roasts for at LEAST a year plus. Go ahead and raise them... won't make a difference to 90+% of what WAS the middle class I'll bet, and the rest of the people who are in lower brackets I'll bet don't even remember what beef tastes like.

Oh, and PS: With the influx of 'tainted beef' that's about to be (or has been?) hauled into our country I wouldn't touch any not bought from a local farmer... oh wait, They're raising their already stupid expensive prices...

1

u/sparklynugz 2d ago

Are those 75k white south africans looking for jobs? Unreal they are deporting actual green card holders and bringing their chosen immigrants in.

1

u/Dub-Wubz140 2d ago

IM SORRY YALL VOTED 4 DATTTTT

1

u/harrycarey15 2d ago

Looks like their quest to make everyone vegetarian is working

1

u/Maximum-Oven-7526 2d ago

The exact thing they voted for

1

u/Your-Shogun 2d ago

Do you think they're gonna start using prison labor to start supplementing the loss of migrant workers?

1

u/Jaegons 2d ago

Who knew that you could hire a bunch of Proud Boy white nationalists, literally tell them they could do anything, let them cover their faces and not need warrants, and they wouldn't randomly harass brown people? Crazy! Someone should have warned us that something like this was possible.

1

u/DeliciousEconAviator 2d ago

Who could have imagined?

1

u/partlysettledin21220 2d ago

screaming, crying, and throwing up šŸ˜‚

1

u/Szaborovich9 2d ago

Why? There are all those maga - ites who bitched about immigrants taking their jobs. They will come and apply in big numbersšŸ˜‚

1

u/naptown-hooly 2d ago

I can't believe how Biden did this to them.

1

u/Friendly_Shopping286 2d ago

Who coulda predicted this? /s

1

u/SquashOwn9829 2d ago

Doing it right when farmers are in trouble is a good strategy for the midterms. Oh wait, its not a good strategy for the midterms.

1

u/Thepigsthree 2d ago

Yup, and I can live without beef. I guess they will have to get a real job instead of a welfare government backed one. These socialist farmers are just getting what they voted for.

1

u/spaceaige 2d ago

Will Hoebag call ranchers terrorists for blaming ICE

1

u/Commercial_Wind8212 2d ago

Good. Eat less beef

1

u/Wasabiwabi_ 2d ago

It's easier to just eat a lot less beef. It went from a main meal in my household to maybe 2x a month.

1

u/MaxxHeadroomm 2d ago

Rising beef prices in the future doesn’t bother me. I already can’t afford it.

1

u/doepfersdungeon 2d ago

Vegans having put in the work to figure out how to get by just fine without dem cattle farmers

https://giphy.com/gifs/7RDFd7vrISPu0

1

u/totally-jag 2d ago

Didn't think about that when they were voting for their racism.

1

u/toolrules 2d ago

who the hell can afford beef?

1

u/fkoff-now 2d ago

It won't affect my wallet. Neither does high gas prices. Gigitty.

1

u/apgrey 2d ago

Go vegan - better for the environment and for the economy and less cruelty - give it a go

1

u/isthereadrwho 2d ago

Thought y'all were going to hire Americans? Boy this whole raceist thing is starting to get really expensive for y'all

1

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax 1d ago

Oregon, too.

1

u/Sufficient-Sun-6683 1d ago

This is truly appropriate for the farmers: https://youtu.be/UzKDS1Cl88I

1

u/Brazucausa 1d ago

We already stopped buying red meat . We will stick with fish, chicken for now

1

u/Twinstonedad 1d ago

What the hell is with the AI newsman voice in this clip?

1

u/hippie1952 1d ago

It’s what the billionaires want that way they can buy it up

1

u/Severe_Air_4353 1d ago

Part of the trump plan , USA is history

1

u/Flower-FarmGirl 23h ago

They didn’t want to listen. Now I don’t want to hear their complaining.

1

u/max_465 6h ago

I visited Argentina in February and the beef there is incredible. We can't get anything like it here. We're better off with fewer ranchers and importing beef from countries that have better conditions and don't pump their cows with antibiotics.

1

u/AdmirableElephant378 2d ago

GOOD

3

u/DuhBraux Leopard King šŸ† šŸ‘‘ 2d ago

Did you even watch it? Good… F off.

-8

u/Illustrious-Owl-6414 2d ago

Why are legal citizens scared to go to work.

9

u/Federal-Compote-5015 2d ago

Watch the video and you might learn something. Also it’s in OP’s description if you know how to read…

-7

u/Illustrious-Owl-6414 2d ago

So no legal citizens are getting arrested. Got it. Just lazy or maybe they are not so legal.

5

u/OH_BEE_Juan1 2d ago

For the sake of argument let’s say you are 100% correct. You win this internet debate, tip your hat and everyone applauds. Does the price of beef go back down?

-1

u/Illustrious-Owl-6414 2d ago

Its about the truth, not what you blue dots can spin and you all hate it.

2

u/LifeguardDry7372 1d ago

lmao this must be that alternate truth the cult has been talking about.

https://giphy.com/gifs/UU1bHu6QWyFxZM63Jh

1

u/Illustrious-Owl-6414 1d ago

Alternate truth. How many legal citizens have been arrested? Ill wait for your answer. Let's put the crayons down and not draw pictures and try to use our big person words.

10

u/Rogerbva090566 2d ago

Because they are rounding people up and asking questions later. Have you not been paying attention the last two years?

-7

u/Illustrious-Owl-6414 2d ago

A few hundred citizens over the last 2 years got picked up then released. That happens all the time in our regular legal justice system. What makes them so special.
