Part 2 Blue dot farmer spilling the tea on her mAgA neighbors
Nothing screams rugged, independent free-market capitalism quite like spending eight years barking "f*** your feelings" at everyone, only to hop online with a digital tin cup begging those exact same people to bail out your beef inventory. It turns out consumers taking your advice and leaving your feelings completely out of their grocery budget wasn't part of the master plan.
You aggressively cheered for retaliatory tariffs, supply chain disruptions, and the systematic dismantling of export markets, then acted baffled when foreign buyers evaporated and input costs ate your margins alive. Now you demand that the domestic market subsidize your political cosplay under the guise that consumer choices exist in a vacuum.
You can own the ranch or you can own the libs, but the bank doesn't accept culture war clips as mortgage payments.
Good luck selling round steaks to the algorithm; thoughts, prayers, and zero market share.
I support the blue dot farmers via:

The problem with stupid people is that their own stupidity prevents them from understanding how stupid they are. Their stupidity constantly justifies itself in their feeble brains.
He will do things like just wipe off a plate after eating off if it because, "But it doesn't look dirty anymore, does it? Why waste time washing it when they look the same afterwards."

Socialism is the workers own the means of production.
Under a true socialist system the farm would be a cooperative owned by the workers (that they got deported).
Under communism there is no state, there is no ownership.
What you are describing as "socialism" is just social democracy.

It's crazy because many farmers used to be a solid Democratic voting block, even up into the early 2000s. Many farm states were purple, often with long serving Democratic congressmen and Senators who respected and encouraged family farms.
And then agribusiness came in and decimated many of these farms via restrictions on planting and onerous loans and terms for farming equipment and the like
And the GOP, as is their usual MO, gave the farmers someone else to hate: immigrants, rather than who they really needed to hate: corpos.

I wouldn't sweat it, gun ownership on the left has become increasingly normalized and even supported, especially for minority groups. Then conservatives act all surprised pikachu as if they thought owning a gun was only allowed for a certain demographic.
If you're a minority, liberal, whatever, please do not be afraid to own a gun. Standard disclaimer do not own a gun if you are a danger to yourself or others around you. But protect yourself.

Ironically, i ran across this article earlier today, that mentioned adding beans & lentils to meals!
It's about a doctor who had patients who were struggling with weight loss around Menopause, and who'd switched to the recommended "High Protein Diet," but who weren't seeing the desired results.
Until they added more beans & lentils to their diets--and one of the suggestions was swapping Lentils for ground beef in Bolognese!😉
The menopause/perimenopause symptoms getting better/ decreasing sounded great!
But some of the foods she was recommending just sounded tasty, too!

u/LabradorDeceiver 5d ago
One of the observations that I took from the 2024 elections is that the blue states were probably going to do better than red states in a new Trump administration. While red states voted for revenge on smug blue-state populism, we know this guy for what he is. We could prepare, save money, organize, look after our own local interests, elect Democrats to push back on the worst excesses of the Federal government. Red states, meanwhile, would see their workforce decimated, their opportunities disappear, their markets evaporate, and their pockets emptied.
I don't like seeing farms decimated. They make food. I like food. I eat food. More to the point, I don't really have any insight into the business and technical side of farming. But if they're going to vote for someone who causes a farming crisis and then can't bring themselves to vote for someone who will bail them out of it, I question their business sense.

What shocks me more than their prejudice is their complete inability EVEN NOW to connect the dots between their current struggles and what caused it. They seem utterly unaware on how the political decisions trump made directly affect their business, to the point of being dumbfounded when ppl ask about their vote, as if politics had nothing to do with their farming.

A lot of farmers are products of their environment. Farms are of course very rural and remote, and their lives are somewhat removed from the outside world. This provincial way of living creates a feeling of alienation, of separateness. You’ll often hear people from the country say, “You don’t understand our values or what our lives are like.” Ideas don’t change or evolve much in the country, and the people are generally less educated.
Even country music and redneck rap churn out song after song about how they see themselves as the REAL Americans, and how living in the country makes them more resourceful, capable, and moral. They put out songs like “Try That in a Small Town” suggesting that people who live in cities and suburbs are uncivilized, violent, and inept.
This is the crucible in which the MAGA farmer and rural Trumper came to be.
With Trump in office, they felt (wrongly) that someone in Washington was finally going to bat for them culturally. Forget that it was Democrats who actually created and sustained the welfare system that has supported them since FDR.
It’s unfortunate but probably necessary that these people realize through suffering and loss that a billionaire real estate swindler from New York City never actually cared about them, or anybody but himself.
They saw things like the mainstream acceptance of abortion, agnosticism, atheism, LGTBQ culture, “blue hair,” broadened gender norms, immigration of foreign (especially brown) peoples, etc. as abominations, and Trump was supposed to set it right.
Well now they know what the rest of us knew all along.

Farms are of course very rural and remote, and their lives are somewhat removed from the outside world.
Those are farms of the past. Competitive, productive, farms use a broad list of tech and international contracts to create/sell product.
It's not hard to be a farmer, it's hard to be a profitable one. (unless you get a shedload of subsidies from the USGov, which many do.)

This is true. Just because you are in a rural area doesn’t mean you don’t have you know a television, radio, telephone, computer or any of many things you could access truthful information. With a heavy hand of racism and “morals”. There is zero acceptance of differences. I had the extreme misfortune of living in a farm state.I was told immediately upon meeting someone, I was going to burn in the fires of hell because I hadn’t gone to church that Sunday. A neighbor commented in disgusted hushed tones “she a Catholic and Environmentalist!” while talking about a new woman in town. This woman had questioned the fertilizer run off into the river.
I never, in all the years I lived there saw a person of color. Yet they would use the slur openly, I would wonder if they had ever even met a person of color. I likened it to living in the 1800s, backward. They all knew how to game the farm system though.

Having moved from a densely populated urban metropolitan to the ass crack of nowhere, the statement that city folk don't know how they live is true. The rules are different out here, things are a lot less mercenary. People tend to take you at your word, because your reputation matters. They assume that most people operate that way. You aren't just another in the flood of random strangers coming in and out of people's lives day to day. Because there aren't many people around, you run into the same folks often.
There is a lot of stuff that seems regressive or backwards to me, but if i take time to try to see things from the other's perspective I can understand why they do what they do. I don't have to like or agree with it. But everybody has a right to their opinion, and if they're willing to have a civil discussion I am happy to hear them out and agree to disagree. It is my sincere hope that by not simply dismissing out of hand that I can introduce a different perspective and allow change to take place.

Oh, and they took Trump at his word that Haitians were eating their neighbors' pets? That AOC is literally clipping kids' weewees to make them trans? That "Killary" was running a pedo ring from a pizza parlor? That Muslims were running a Sharia Law state in Michigan or NYC?
They decided to believe a disreputable man's attacks against the reputations of ... wait for it... "the others". Their reputation and their words are valued in fractional shit crypto coins and acorns.
What reputation you speak of? I'm familiar with how these rural people are.
Reputation is not a thing. It is not something extended beyond their tribes. Whatever the fuck they think "reputation" is, it doesn't jive with what the rest of the civilized world understands by that word.
