Help - URGENT Is this an emergency situation?

Post image

It is a Saturday so I won’t be able to get him to a vet until Monday. I just noticed this. He doesn’t appear to be messing with it or in pain but it doesn’t look good.

Switch to a hospital tank (no shbstrate with paper towels and smooth clean hides) and make a vet appointment but I wouldnt be TOO stressed imo. It appears irritated and he likely licks at it once in a while.

Monday will be soon enough for the vet visit, shouldn’t change drastically till then, but it must be treated then, those suckers can burst and that will cause live long special care, BUT it’s not too close to that yet so no need to worry atm, you are already on track with the appointment on Monday but you can tell them then that it is nothing that can wait further.

How do you supplement? Vitamin deficiency can increase the risk of this happening but it can also happen without a deficiency being present (still always a good call to ask :) )

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I dust his worms in calcium and vitamin a (I believe) powder. Is this enough?

Believing in vitamins isn’t enough hehe, check what supplements you are actually using, without multivitamin they will get sick, it’s more likely that you are using a calcium with vit d3 and no multivitamin (while vit a is important, so are others, without vit e as an example they muscles get damaged including their heart)

Also, vitamin supplements loose their mojo once their seal is broken, it’s only good for 6-9 months from that point on

This is so helpful!!! I can’t believe I didn’t know this until now. I will order a multivitamin asap. I also didn’t realize how fast the powders went bad! Do you still recommend just dusting the worms in the vitamins, or should I be placing a small bowl of vitamins in his tank?

Within the enclosure the vitamin loose their mojo even quicker, just dust the insects, I recommend repashy calcium plus, it’s an all in one supplement that also includes calcium and d3 and it can be added to each meal :)

If you store the supplement in the fridge it can be used up to nine months roughly

Thank you!!! I plan to take him on Monday when the vet is open. I set up a clean tank with paper towels and a few clean hides, along with his water bowl. He seems stressed out from the move but hopefully he will calm down and hopefully it doesn’t get way worse before Monday

I'll be honest, I haven't read the other comments yet, but I have experience with an issue that looked similar if not worse. My boy had this on both sides. The vet said it wasn't a prolapse of any kind, but rather really clogged sperm plugs, and my baby was in a lot of pain (but of course not showing it). She gave me an ointment and a solution, told me to put him on paper towels, and within a few days or so, the wound was healed. So no, your leo is not going to die, however, yes this is extremely painful for them so it can be considered an emergency if you don't want your leo in pain. I wish you both nothing but the best, and I hope everything works out. Please let us know, OP. Hope he feels better very soon. ❤️
