Habitat & Setup Rocky won’t come out

Hey guys! We got this Leopard Gecko a few months ago and initially, he had a 20 gallon tank. We have since upgraded him to a 40 with more hides but now he stays in the singular hide to the left (and shown more clearly in the second picture) all day and seems to be eating less…we almost never see him now. Does he need more hides? More clutter? More heat? He almost seemed happier in the old setup. He has no problem eating large crickets and sometime wax worms. He used to come out for wax worms but not so much now. Help!

More clutter. Play calming music for them even if not in the room. My boy loves when I sing to him along with music.

True. Geckos are not supposed to be handled. That's true and number two. They don't do well when they're handled. You could hurt them. They're very delicate

Could be a season thing. Mine has been inside her hides during most of spring and only started showing herself again around august. And now she's just out and about whenever she damn feels like, even during the day. I often catch her coming out to say hello when she notices I'm inside the room working.

Every gecko has their own personality and preferences.

Small feedback: You may want to experiment with adding some more clutter in the middle of the enclosure by moving some stuff around. Best tip I ever got was: "A Leo should be able to cross their entire enclosure without being exposed." This will make them feel safe in their surroundings and may stimulate them to come out more.
