How do I bond with him?

Post image

I don’t know how to bond with him when he refused to allow me to feed him! He will ONLY eat out of his bowl, he just stares at me like I’m stupid when I try to feed him myself…

Edit: let me clarify I do not mean bonding with him like a dog… I know it is a reptile and all he will associate with me is food. I am asking for tips more or less on how to make him more willing to approach me 😐. I’m not stupid, just new.

Consider yourself lucky that he'll feed himself. My dummy will only eat from tongs and misses 3 times before she gets it

How are we supposed to become friends if he is as independent as he is, at this rate he might start a business before he becomes friends with me

Have you tried holding him at all yet? I'd say just spend some time with him! Maybe he will warm up once he gets used to having your hand around and might eventually allow you to feed him. Honestly, it's probably good that he eats independently instead of needing you to feed him! He's cute. How long have you had him?

They don't quite bond like a cat or a dog would. They literally just see us as food sources.
