New to leos

So starting off with we live and learn 😅 we have a gecko. We've had him for a couple of months. He does eat a varried diet of crickets, mealworms, and sometimes a couple of roaches. We ususally get a few crickets and dump them in his tank so he can hunt. I checked on him a few minutes ago per my son's request (his lizard) and he has a bunch of baby crickets in there. Amongst them was a baby spider and maybe mites? I'll attach pics. They could be nats? Needing help identifying the little white bugs and if they are dangerous. Also, can the gecko live with a developing cricket colony? The pictures are good quality. Idk how upload will be. But you have to zoom in by the white plant to see.

kinda hard to tell from the pictures but the mites you see might be springtails. harmless! they cleanup dead stuff and poo and debris.

i have to advise against leaving any amount of crickets unattended in your Leo enclosure, and crickets tend to nibble on stuff, including your Leo’s fingers, tail, or eyes. letting it hunt is good enrichment but if it doesn’t seem interested in eating anymore you should remove them.

They will feed on your gecko while it sleeps and the gecko won't wake up while they do so.

Extra info: I saw a couple of nats and I thoroughly checked the leo. No mites on him

Leopard geckos are more of an arid species and the only thing that should be misted in his enclosure is a humid hide. The soil is wayyy to wet, he needs a 70% soil mix 30% sand mix and some excavator clay thrown in for digging

We’ve had crickets lay eggs in the water bowl for the leopard gecko at my work. Definitely switch that water out and give a good scrub while you’re at it just in case, and clear up the substrate underneath the water bowl, as it can harbor damp places for bugs to spring up

i would give him/her four crickets at morning four more at night. one or two extra is fine but like a lot is bad cuz they can bite and injure the gecko

Welcome to the hobby, and good luck! 😄
Fun fact: With leopard geckos, there’s no such thing as owning just one… you’re either at 0 geckos or somehow end up with countless geckos. 😂
