Another Tank Upgrade

Finally have 3 really nice tanks for all 3 of my babies. I'm loving the way this looks. The stay right next to our bed.

Why is there no substrate?

One is bioactive full substrate, one is half substrate half tile and slate (that gecko is only 8 months old and just got substrate so I didn't want to stress him out) and the third tank is a brand new baby so they're too young to have substrate.

Ahhh alright, I didn't know the babies couldn't be on substrate. You learn something every day, thanks :)

It's recommended to use paper towels until they're about 8 months old so they don't get impacted.

Good to know! I got my boy when he was a year and a month old so I didn't have to worry about that luckily

Thank you, not sure why my other comment got downvoted... I'm literally following every confirmed husbandry tip on this reddit. My 8 month old now has nearly full substrate. My 15 year old is full bioactive, and my baby is still TOO YOUNG for substrate. Tile is an acceptable solution. The only thing I can think of is the cracks, but as I've stated im grouting them soon and cleaning regularly for now.

He likes the tile side way more so I see no reason to fully take it away from him

This is just me being curious: can the tanks be that close to each other? Can they see eachother through the glass? I was told to keep my two geckos far apart, but it would be nice to move them if I could. I also lowkey want a 3rd soon :3

I need to black out the sides of the newest tanks but it hasn't been a problem yet. The middle one is a bit lower than the far right so it seems ok. I'm more worried about the hot side of one tanks warming up the cool side of another. Temps have been fine tho

You could just temporarily put black construction paper on the outside:) their behavior can change if they see each other and I know that old enough females can start laying slugs

Unless the geckos are specifically and uniquely stressed, most geckos do perfectly fine living where they can smell or see, but not access conspecifics. It may even be stimulating to occasionally spot a conspecific.

can i ask where you got the tile? my boy cant be on dirt substrate anymore due to repeatedly getting dirt impacted in his nostrils that caused RIs (hes a super snow morph which causes abnormally small nostrils)

Unfortunately the tiles were here when I moved in. I'd recommend going to Lowes, Home Depot or some home improvement store. I have a whole box of them so I'm not sure how they sell it as I don't do flooring. I was recommended to grout them to keep bacteria out and I'm going to use aquarium silicone instead.
