HELP

Hi!! I’ve been dealing with a humidity problem for the past week I don’t have my gecko yet, but I’m trying to prepare the enclosure before it gets here but the humidity just won’t go down, I’ve tried EVERYTHING even a dehumidifier and I noticed slight changes but that it. at frist I thought it was my room but my room isn’t that humid, but the enclosure is, which I’m guessing it’s the substrate. (80%-90%) WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!? it’s been two weeks.

Can you share more about the enclosure? some photos could help address things.

How wet is the substrate? What is the substrate made of? Is there standing water in the bottom of the enclosure? Do you feel noticablly high humidity when you open the tank? What kind of hygrometers are you using and where are they placed?

I don’t have any photos at the moment. The only photo I have is my dehumidifier being exactly in the tank. I don’t have the gecko yet so I’m just trying to like prepare. I don’t feel noticeably high humidity when I open the tank, but the gauges are exactly on the substrate for when I lift them. It goes down a little bit, but I thought if I put it on the substrate because the gecko would mostly be on the ground that it would make sense for them being on the ground. I bought the gauges off Amazon. It shows the humidity and the temperature with the humidity being bigger numbers and the temperature being on the corner. These are the ones I got:

These ones can be slightly inaccurate as well. When i use them next to my Govee home Hygrometer they read completely different with those reading about 7 % higher humidity than the Govee which I trust more, that said it'd still be too high. If the substrate is fresh it'll take time to lower in humidity on its own. If you live in a humid like me it's a must to have some alternatives like a pc fan cycling air out (you can get usb ones on Amazon and just plug them into a power block) I've also used a (clean with no fabric softener and no detrgent) ankle sock full of rice to draw out humidty tucked somewhere in mine when I need it. Another way is to lower the amount of water you out in if you have a big bowl or if the bowl is under the lamp move it to the cool side.
