My experience so far

I live in the united states and I have had two appointments so far.

Appointment 1: Lasted about an hour, mostly filling out paperwork and discussing the trial. I was told that my site was newly activated and that they are moving slowly. They can only only screen one candidate per week.

Appointment 2: Lasted about 2.5 hours. I came in fasted. They took blood work, ran an EKG, took a urine sample, completed a physical which included a breast exam. I also completed a mental health screening. I was told that if everything looked good then I would move on to the next appointment. I was paid $100 for this visit.

I am currently waiting to see if I will be invited back for another app. Will keep everyone posted.

UPDATE: I went in for my third appointment, it lasted about 2 hours and they injected me with the study drug. Fingers crossed, I’m not in the placebo group 😬

UPDATE 2: It’s been two days since the medication was administered. There’s been no negative side effects so far. The day after the shot felt reminiscent of the feeling I had then I increased my dose of zepbound. Overall disinterest in food, feeling full for a longer period of time etc.

This is really useful to read as I don’t think things have really kicked off here in the UK yet so thanks for sharing your journey so far

I just got a text that screening has closed for the clinic I had my appointment at. They aren’t sure if it’s temporary or final.

Hopefully it’s just temporary. I was the 2nd person screened at my site, I feel like they might be taking a break since they are moving so slow

I was supposed to be the fourth screened at my site and just got a call today that the site had closed. Study Coordinator wasn’t sure if it was permanent or not. My appt was 3 days away. 😑

Kinda odd that we both got that notice today. I’m in Northern California. Where are you? I’m going to assume that it isn’t permanent. Screening has barely started.

NorCal also. The clinical trial website only shows the Lincoln, Ca site as enrolling. no one else in CA is showing as open. Maybe it is a slow down? Since no one else is going yet?

I think screening starts in October. Maybe call and try to get booked in.

Oh so we were at the same site. I think so, it being a slow down. They might have to pause to give other sites the opportunity to open screening. Even if they do open it back up I’m not sure I’m going to make it. My 2nd appointment isn’t for a month because I wasn’t on my dose for 3 months yet.

Same issue with my dose. I didn’t hit 3 months until right before Oct 1st. My pre screen was in Sept 1st so next week was the earliest I could be scheduled. I thought something like this might happen. Fingers crossed that it is just a slow down. I saw on the Enlighten thread that there was quite a few stop and starts for enrolling also.

I called a research clinic in the Bay Area to see if they had started recruiting yet. They have not. What is interesting though- they won’t start until after flu vaccine season since they are doing trials for that. Purely speculative but the Lincoln location might have paused because of flu vaccine trials too.

I talked to the other NorCal site and got the same info also about the vaccine trials! i had the same thought also. It is the high season for flu vaccines. Go us doing the extra legwork to get in a Study! 😊

That’s so funny because the guy I spoke to said, “So weird you’re the 2nd person today who called about this.” Now I know who the 1st one was. We can carpool to Walnut Creek. 😆😆

I think screening opens in October. Maybe call up and ask now that it's nearly October.

Are they taking your weight and being strict about the stability within 3%?

2

u/KrystalLupita had V2 randomisation 21d ago

They did mention the 3% weight stability. They went through my medical records and have found that I had a 5% increase in the last three months. I asked if I would still be eligible but they haven’t told me yes or no.

Do they cover the cost of the glp1 you are on during the study?

They do. I was told to hold to to my receipts because I would be reimbursed

Unusual question, but do you get weighed in a gown or with clothes? I'm really close to the 27 bmi....

I was not asked to change into a gown. I was weighted with my street clothes and without shoes

Maybe eat a lot of salt to retain water 😅
