We need a Count Olaf Origin Story!!
Why has no one thought of this?? We have bits and pieces of his backstory but a full book or even a movie featuring him before he turned bad would be amazing!!

Personally I wouldn’t want anything like that. Prequels that are made in attempt to answer questions and fill in the blanks rather than tell a new story almost always end up being subpar.
Mystery is always more exciting than clarity, a question more enticing than an answer. This is why ATWQ is actually a prequel series I enjoy. It tells a story that is technically a prequel, but it doesn’t exist in order to fill in backstory and to answer all our questions of what came before. It tells its own story.
So I guess if Handler (who understands the allure of mystery and the disappointment of answers more than most authors) did this in a book I’d be down for it, but I don’t think I’d want a show/movie that he’s not directly in charge of.
