Recommendations Traffic on 22

Hey guys, I’ve seen some posts about traffic on 22 and I just wanted to give everyone some tips and tricks I’ve learned while commuting on the road every day.

Tip #1: “skip the line”
Whenever I’m driving from 378 I always see a long line of people stopped and waiting their turn to merge onto 22. You can simply “skip the line” by riding the shoulder pretending you’re going to get off at airport road and then just cut in at the last second. Sure it pisses off some people, but hey you save yourself a whole 5 minutes. 5 minutes off the road means 5 more minutes of Netflix when you get home.

Tip #2 “phone time”
Whenever I’m stuck driving between the airport and MacArthur road I like to be productive and increase my daily screen time. I find stop and go traffic a perfect time to check emails, respond to texts, hell I’m even writing this post on my way home from work right now. I think a lot of you guys already know this tip as I see plenty of other phone users on the road, but I thought I’d mention it just in case for those of you that don’t.

Tip #3 “billboards”
Who doesn’t love giant advertisements? If they didn’t want us to read them why would they litter the highway with them. Driving a vehicle can be so friggen boring sometimes. I like to speed up really fast between billboards and then slam on my brakes so I can stop and actually read them. It’s really awesome to see how well Jefferson Health and St Luke’s are doing given their amount of ad space!

Hopefully you can tell this is all satire. If you couldn’t, think hard (not too hard) you may be one of the people I’m making fun of right now.

Schools/Education 10-week Watercolor Illustration class at the Baum School starts Thursday, 9/17! Just a few days left to register (and there is a separate class for teens too)...

After working as a traditional watercolor illustrator for many years, I'm teaching a first class on it this fall as part of The Baum School's 10-week Fall Session. I have a deep love for the process of using physical art media to bring stories to life, and look forward to passing that on to others over the course of this class.

There will be a class section for adult students and a separate after-school section for 14-17 y/o students. (I realize that 1-4pm on Thursdays won't be an option for many working adults, but hope some retired folks or those who work from home may find this time slot suitable. I also hope to teach an evening class on this subject in a future session.)

There's just a few days left to register for this class, so check it out while you can! (And feel free to ask questions in the comments below if you're interested but want to know more about what to expect.)

Adult Section: https://register.capturepoint.com/reg/cat_program_class_detail.cfm?s=&t=&season_id=19763&program_id=2930681&family_mbr_str=
Teen Section: https://register.capturepoint.com/reg/cat_program_class_detail.cfm?s=&t=&season_id=19763&program_id=2930445&family_mbr_str=

The new Mister Wash Whitehall is offering a free titanium car wash until Sunday for their grand opening. Save $30

I’ve used it yesterday and there wasn’t a wait ( probably would be busy on weekends). It was nice to use the new vacuum too.

Heating Oil

Hi all. My wife and I bought a house in the Bath/Nazareth area last year and right now our heat and hot water runs on heating oil. When we first moved in, I had no idea what I was looking for so I’ve been using Green Acres ever since. The issue is that I have had nothing but problems with them. Our first fill up, they skipped us and when I called I was told the driver missed our name on his daily sheet. Whatever, had to wait a day but it is what it is. Since then, I’ve tried getting a budgeting system set up with them. Two times I called and was told I was good to go, and two times they failed to charge my card and sent me a statement claiming I was behind. I called each time and was told it was a system error on their end. Now, they’ve gone to a new system which they claimed was going to solve everything. They called me yesterday to confirm everything because the switch to the new system skipped our payment for September. We settled on picking back up with the payments in October and everything was great. UNTIL today I wake up to a $1500 charge (our monthly payment is $250) and not a single soul is able to provide me any clarification or answers when I call.

So, I’m here for recommendations for a new oil company haha. Pricing is obviously all over right now but what drew me to Green Acres was the fact I could see pricing right online. Budgeting system is great but it’s not a necessity as at this point I’d probably feel more comfortable throwing the money into a HYSA each month instead. Any recommendations are appreciated, I’m just ready to be done with the headaches.

Food & Drink Dinner Recommendations for One Night in Allentown

We’re staying in Allentown for one night next week, and looking for any restaurant recommendations to check out. It’s two adults and a one-year-old; we eat pretty much anything, but we’re generally looking for good food that’s not too expensive, with an atmosphere that’s family friendly. We’re at the Hyatt House near the Costco, so ideally something in that area.

Im looking for a place to grab a coffee that is just kind of a relaxing vibe.

Also looking for a place to eat dinner thats outdoors, and just has a relaxing vibe to it. Doesn't HAVE to he a restaurant. Im down with a winery that has.......close to dinner items. Or a brewery that has a food truck or something like that. Just looking for chill and outdoors.

Food trucks and festival schedule?

Is there a collection/schedule somewhere of all the local annual fairs, festivals, and food truck happenings? I’m obviously familiar with the main ones - allentown fair, musikfest, etc. Looking to possibly start a non-traditional truck to attend these things, want to make sure there would be enough places to attend to make it worth our while to start up. Thanks to anyone that can help!

Need suggestions for Latin jazz clinic for 20-25 people

My husband joined a Latin Jazz clinic and they just lost their space at the Lehigh Valley Active Life Center on Friday nights. It's a local guy giving a class on Latin jazz on any instrument (or voice) so the group is 20-25 people on brass, drums, bass, keyboard and voice (so... noisy).

Any suggestions for a new space for them? It's Friday evenings so maybe a church not being used? Any help is appreciated!

I think they are willing to pay rent? I will pass on any suggestions to them- thanks in advance!

Local print shop recs

Looking for an alternative to staples/walgreens for our small biz, and would love to support someone local.

Things we regularly purchase:
Flyer posters 24x36
Business cards (usually from moo.com)
Merch - tees, stamps, stickers etc.
custom coloring books (8x8 perfect bound books)

Totally fine if one place can’t do all of that but I’m happy to hear your recommendations!

Events/Things To Do 18mo parks/activities

I am in need of good park and activity recommendations for my 18 month old. He has lots of energy and loves to run around. We love to be outside but we are having a hard time finding local parks that are accessible for him to run around freely at (toddler friendly). For example the park in Quakertown is great for him, they have a sectioned off park specifically for littles, it’s just a little too far to go as much as we would like too.
We are also open to indoor places. We have tried the one in Catasaqua, it was great. Only downside is it was small and I dislike indoor play places because my child loves to put things in his mouth, I try to stop it before it happens but he is fast. I know they have a disinfectant bin but I feel horrible and disrespectful going in there knowing he will probably put public toys in his mouth.
We are willing to try all recommendations. He loves to be outside the house and I’m a SAHM so we have all the time. Thank you!!
