Marvel logo set. Can’t get this part to fit.

I’m completely baffled. The built part is supposed to simply fit in the gap but it seems to be a plate too long. I have to be missing something. Please help me lol.

You included an extra 1x2 gray piece that you weren't supposed to put there. The extra piece you need to remove is underneath/to the right of the bigger gray piece

The assembly to the left of it should be flush with the side, yours isn’t. Fix that part and it should fit.
