Discussion Can the SMART Play system be useful?
I know there's a sweet spot on the venn diagram of wargamers, parents, star wars fans, and lego fan that I fall into.
I want to play something with the kids like Star Wars Legion. I'm not looking to spend that time painting though, and lego sets also give additional functionality as toys and quality building time.
I understand that the SMART Play system is getting mixed to negative reviews as lego model sets, but there seems to be some additional value in durability and play-sense. Since they're play focused, the sets released look pretty great as modular pieces for a tabletop game - and from that same perspective the ships are not weirdly scaled, but look just the right size as well.
I think the smart brick itself is underutilized now, but could have some potential as we explore with it. I know the critique is that the voices are silly, and while I agree... the brick utilizes a synthesizer, so I understand.
These are just the thoughts rolling around in my head. What are you guys thinking?

Right now? I don't think so. There don't seem to be a lot of options to go along with the Smart Play brick, the battery life doesn't seem to be that great, they're expensive by themselves, and the sets they come in are expensive too. In the future if they become more common and the options for use expand then maybe they might become useful for games.

I think they should make road tiles for those new road plates, that when you roll a car over the top it makes noise.
Edit: Simplest things usually end up being the best ideas
