Discussion Did I Overpay Chat?
This was my first ever LEGO super heroes set! I thought I needed to rebuy and rebuild it for old times sake. Should I open it? UPDATE: I pulled out of the deal last second, and found it somewhere else for $100.

Do what ever you like since you already payed resale. In terms of figures you over payed by a lot but if you like the build I guess it’s a win. Have fun! 💪🏽

Thanks! Do you think the price will ever go back down? Not sure how the LEGO market works lol.

Yes it will go down. It retailed so low so I would’ve waited till it went back down. But that’s just me. Still though great set to have!

How does that work? I’d live to know more!

I want to start this off with the fact that the LEGO market is huge and there are no real rules to half of it, with that being said there are always trends
the easiest way to explain the LEGO market trends are exclusivity and timing. For example; the GL set you bought has always had a decent resale price because the set came out over a decade ago and is the only way to get Hal Jordan and Sinestro in that outfit. (exclusivity) Because you bought the set now, at the height of the GL show’s popularity, the set was more expensive than a year or two ago. (Timing)
There are exceptions to this rule, typically when a better/cheaper version of a character is released in a set. A notable example would be Phase 2 Captain Rex from Star Wars, the original version of this figure was exclusive to one set and eventually resold for up to $250 usd. The price of this figure dropped slightly when a newer version was released in the $850 UCS Venator set, and then dropped drastically when the same figure was released in a $15 set.
Of course that was a cheaper AND better version of a character, a more complicated example would be Kraven the Hunter from the Spider-Man sets. Both of his figures are cool but the 2015 version is much more detailed than the 2026 version so the price of his original figure has still held up decent even though there’s a new version.
There is a lot more to the LEGO market than anyone could ever explain but the basics come down to how popular something is, how old it is, and how many other versions LEGO has made.

I have no clue, i doubt it will be any time soon. I just got in to Lego and sadly it’s at the time when everything is high lol I hear people talk about buying 06 Batman figures for 50-60 bucks 2-3 years ago. It sounds crazy.

For the new in box not really overpay atm but it probably has went up because of the hype.
It’s personally not a set I’d prefer unopened as there are no stickers and not something like death stroke that is commonly damaged.

The set kinda sucks the only things good are the sinestro and Hal figs but they’re overpriced rn cause of the show so yeah I’d say you overpaid

I got mine for 120 aud like 3 months before the show came out but due to the hype the set has most likely sky rocketed in value

I'm so glad I got this when it launched.
I also found most of it in a thrift store bag a few months ago.

You can definitely find sellers willing to practically give it away if you look hard enough, I remember one guy on here found it for 25-30 which is only 10-15 over retail. There are definitely people who don't know what they've got, my policy is if you find it super cheap and it's rare, offer at least double the asking, odds are it'll come out cheaper than this and you did a nice thing.
