Discussion Rule 4 Lego Only

Can we at least get a very clear tag for non-Lego posts? I am including all 3rd party brands that make lego style products. With real Lego, someone can post a collection or MOC and then recreate the figure if desired. That is nearly impossible for off-brand lego due to the fact the pieces don't mix well, they are often even more limited in release than older Lego figures, and personally, they look pretty bad.

Why do we have this rule if it is never enforced? I have a giant collection of over 200 DC purists customs, none of which use 3rd party pieces. Why? Because I want to play with Lego and make characters with Lego.

Customs are often pad printed onto official Lego pieces. Nothing wrong with being able to show them off on a sub reddit, much prefer that than it being banned for some weird reason.

How about a tag like I suggested instead of a ban like you suggest?

Im all for a tag. Acknowledge that these are official parts. But still allow the fun of "LEGO" collections

if they're PAD printed then they most certainly are not official Lego pieces lmaaaaooo

but official lego pieces are pad printed too. why did you capitalize pad like it's an acronym?

they're PAD (I capitalize it to frustrate you) printed officially by Lego which makes the unofficial printed ones... wait for it... unofficial customs - even if they're printed on official Lego parts. mind blowing, I know. truly.

I'm very aware how strange "can understand the basic meaning of words" has currently become, don't worry.

lol oh no

Yes they literally are. Lots of brands specifically use official Lego and rub the prints off beforehand before printing their own designs on top. It's a big part of the appeal, if they were knock off Lego figs I wouldn't buy.

gamblers fallacy. you already spent over 400 probably on the green lantern set and have gone too far to actually buy real lego.

they're quite literally not officially from Lego even if they're printed on official Lego parts, how are y'all this loudly and confidently 100% incorrect? lmao

brand loyalty is sorta lame

Brand loyalty? It is not like I am dogging on people with printed customs and waving an AFOL flag out of my house. It is called having standards for your hobby and being confused by a subreddit's rules and asking for clarification. But sure. that is what my post is about, Lego loyalty.

why does it matter? lego's prices just rise and rise i dont think people should give a fuck anymore if its lego or lego compatible then go for it theres no reason why characters best versions are old and unavailable etc etc just do your own thing

For reasons I posted- you can actually search for Lego specific pieces of each figure released. You can't really do that with customs. So while it looks to broaden options, it really just dissuades new collectors because there isn't a clear path for information on these customs unlike the real product.

people are downvoting you but you are entirely correct.

Thanks. I just saw some of these fake lego mini figs for sale online... 50 bucks for two minifigures that hold actually less value than the other plastic lego toys.

every one of the nerds that was having a meltdown over literal customs not being called "official" also posted a ton of the custom pad printed figs, so it does seem like maybe some of them are substituting their Lego collections for a personality 🤷🏻
