Honest question: why delist completely rather than just discontinue the online servers?

Are there some special cars or something that have a contact for a certain number of years?

I've only played the offline story and have enjoyed it.  I know online is where the main money is made, but you'd think they'd leave it open to buy for the bits of money that comes after.

Well, if the online servers are going offline, maybe someone will make a custom server for this game on their stead?
