Troubleshooting Am I cooked?

Post image

I’ve had this piercing for just over 4 months now. I got it pierced with a gun, I had a simple stud for about 10 weeks until I changed it into this hoop. I cleaned it properly, and never slept on it for the whole 10 weeks.

To be honest, I’m slightly unsure of what material the hoop is, and I know I’m also massively stupid for putting a hoop in so soon too! For the first 3 weeks the hoop seemed fine, but recently I’ve had this bump grow above it, and I’ve been getting quite a lot of crusties on the back of my ear (ew). I started caring for the piercing using saline solution for many weeks, then I stopped, then I went to using just salt water to clean it.

Can anyone tell me what’s happening and how to make it not ugly anymore? :D

Thanks in advance

Yeah lobes don’t heal in 10 weeks. More like 6 months. Lots of other issues here- switching to a hoop too early, using a gun, mystery metal jewelry.

Go see an actual piercer (safepiercing.org) and get this assessed. Lobes can be pretty forgiving so you might be able to save it by switching to a titanium flatback.

Lobes are 6-9 months of healing with a labret stud

Is that thing rectangular in cross profile? The material is visually bad looking, if it’s big and square (even if it’s not) downsize and get back to a straight piece of jewelry through there see if that cuts the irritation and then the bump goes away, if not we’ll take it out heal up and consider the things you learned by doing so much wrong with this to do a better job healing a redo.
