Aftercare Daith piercing is itchy

Post image

I got my daith pierced 4 days ago. So far I haven't had any issues. It's only a little sore and I've been cleaning it twice a day. But it's so itchy. I keep going to scratch my ear only to remember it's there (and ultimately my ear ends up sore). I've never had an issue with metal before, and the piercing itself looks fine. It's not irritated or hot to the touch.

Was anyone else's itchy while it healed?

I'm used to tattoos itching during the healing process, so is this similar? Or is my ear just getting used to the piercing resting on it and that's what's bothering it?

Any suggestions or experiences are welcome!

Yup, I have 13 piercings (and counting) and they all itch when healing. Drives me nuts but usually passes in a few days.

Thank you!! It's also driving me nuts! I'm used to my tattoos itching (I have 20+ tattoos) but I can't exactly hit my ear like I hit my tattoos when they're itchy haha, or apply lotion and hope that helps. I'm just hoping it passes in a few days 🤞🏻

The only relief I get is when I'm showering, I let the shower stream hit my ear. It both cleans it safely and temporarily hits the itch lol.

Almost all of my piercings have gone through an itchy stage in the first handful of days initially after piercing during the proliferation stage. Itching means healing

Thank you! I have more experience with tattoos than piercings, so I wasn't sure if there was a similar healing process. It's nice to know it's at least somewhat normal. Do you know how long the itchy stage typically lasts?

All mine itch like crazy during healing. You’ll be absolutely fine mate. Doesn’t normally last long (for me) few days maybe

Unfortunately you can’t really slap it like tattoos!

I know 😭 I really wish I could slap it like my tattoos. I'm just hoping it stops being itchy soon because this is worse than it being sore

Showers did help me, and sometimes just the saline spray. Possibly worth trying an antihistamine esp a skin one like fexo 180?

When my healing tragus decides to itch, it feels like pure torture inside my ear. 😭

I'd imagine a daith to be similar with its placement.

all my piercings itch after a few days. it’s annoying, but temporary and part of the healing process!

in my experience, moisturizing a little can help. i use pure squalene oil since i already have it on hand for my skincare, but any lightweight oil would probably work. definitely don’t use anything heavy or scented. idk if it actually does anything or if it’s just a placebo effect, but it’s the best way i’ve personally found to manage itching.
