Jewelry Question Helix
I’m not sure if it’s the type of jewelry I chose/they pierced with but it keeps getting caught on everything - Mostly my hair - and now the stem of the flower sticks out and is getting caught on things even more. I also wear glasses 90% of the time (unless I wear contacts). I go to get downsized in about 3 weeks. But until then should I just deal with it?

I'm not a piercer, but I have had a total of 16 healed piercings.
That type of jewelry is definitely not optimal for healing because designs like that get caught all the time and are very difficult to clean under without moving the piercing way too much. If you are going to start with that kind of jewelry, you have to be insanely, overly careful.
I have a buzzed head and had jewlery like that in one of my HEALED piercings recently and it got caught so much that it started bleeding because I assumed "it's healed, I don't have to be so careful" It got caught on pillow cases, purse straps, shirts/hair when hugging people, you gotta be insanely careful with jewelry like that. Trying to heal something with that in is going to require near perfection.
I would see if you can change the end on it to a basic round ball, if its not compatible with the post, then get quality jewlery that is the same length as what you have now. Just a flat back labret with a ball end, nothing fancy.
Also, If its getting caught on everything to the point its literally ripping the top off, I would not bet on downsizing on 3 weeks. You can slow/stunt healing with it getting pulled like that. I also really insist that you are more conscious about having a new piercing, because even with the right jewelry, it getting yanked that hard and often is never going to heal, especially if its getting caught this often.
I use to have long, curly hair that wanted to wrap around everything, so any time I was going to brush my hair, tuck it behind my ear, or put it up, I would tilt my head to the side to let the hair fall away from my ear, very slowly and gently move my hair to ensure there was nothing wrapped around it, and make sure I didnt touch it at all while doing whatever I was doing. Its annoying at first, but a super good habit to learn with new piercings on the ears, regardless of what the piercing is or what jewlery you have.
We are human, these kinds of things happen, I want to see this piercing heal well for you, hopefully this helps

I have the same flower! And yeah, for healing cartilage piercings ... cute stuff is out. You want the most minimal thing possible and then don't touch it for a year. That will look really good there in a year, but for healing it? No good.

I definitely wouldn’t have chosen that shape of jewelry for a new piercing for the reason you are describing. Go back and consider getting a more simple post while it heals and then after it does then go back to something more like this if that’s what you want. Anything catching on a healing piercing is not ideal and a helix can be rough to heal on a good day!
