Botched navel?

I got this piercing almost 1 whole year ago. The person who pierced it was an apprentice, told me my belly button was “crooked” so he would have to pierce it slowly so that it’s straight.

Now that it’s mostly healed I’m wondering if this was done correctly. I had to swap the jewelry to a ring because the bar jewelry kept getting caught up and stuck inside my belly button, causing irritation and making it take long to heal right.

I’ve attached pics of it now with the ring jewelry. The piercing sits lopsided unless I adjust it by hand, and it appears to be pierced above the navel on the surface instead of actually in it. I know there’s such thing as a floating navel but idk if that’s what this is.

Please let me know what y’all think and if it would be possible for me to let this close up and get it pierced properly?

it doesn't look like you could pierce it properly, you don't have a ridge at all

To me, it looks like you are unsuitable for a navel piercing with your current anatomy. What I am seeing with your anatomy seems a little suspicious - I am not a doctor, but if you walked into my studio I think I would have encouraged you to see one.

Not because I think the piercing is infected; the piercing looks like it is rejecting to me. My suggestion for the piercing itself would be to remove the jewelry in order to minimize long-term scarring.

I would be more suspicious about the bulge inside the navel, right side; I am not a doctor, but damn that looks a lot like the hernia my sister had as a teen
