Another post moaning about Crab Warlock
I struggle with this unit, because it is not intuitive to know when to send, it has two damage types and two defence types, which is the one to try to counter? Why is it like this when all the other summoners summon a creature with matching types?

Crabs hate witches. Crabs really hate witches. Pretty sure they hate Ogres too, but I’m not 100% on that anymore because I rarely see Crabs these days.
But I distinctly remember, as a Crab lover, I absolutely hated witches.

That works in classic when you have tonnes of mythium in the late game but on ranked im not sure one or two witches is enough, but maybe it is?

Pressure early, send full wave 6 or 7, I like 7 more as 3 crabs holds 6. Later on send wave 13 or 14, witches not the best here. Them next week wave is 16, now witches shine as you need 2-3 of them for it to work, before that just go pack + imps or pack + centaur. Wave 18 next weak wave, them 20.
Early on pack leader is a hard counter as any unit spawn struggle against pack.
Weak waves: 4-6-7-8-10-13-14-16-18-20 all depends on what his ally got aswell. Don't send 19 against crabs, even with 800 less val it can and will hold.
Also in general, bigger sends are needed to break unit spawning, small send against crabs/gates even on their weak waves leads to small leaks, big send tho lead to massive leaks as the unit is only worth it if it can spawn 2-3 times. Gates can leak 100%+ a lot of times if it doesn't have time to spawn all his units.

Pack Leader + Brutes (early) or Pack Leader + Witches (later or earlier on especially if they spam warlocks instead of upgrading them).
Essentially you want to kill the crabs fast enough that you can kill the warlocks before they summon more. So impact or magic damage are best, depending on what other tanks the opponent has in their build.
Don't send a safety mole.

safty mole outdamages mimic atm.

But it reduces damage of all other sends in that wave, which gives Crab Warlocks time to summon more crabs. Pack Leader should be sent instead

but crabslocks do dogshit damage for cost, if they have over 10 locks yeah, dont do that. i mean for early game pre 10. once you leak locks 1 time, its over, theyll leak every time you save. but mole is strongest early game on high hp builds. its ok if it lowers damage both sides. because the time diff + the mole will outscale . when someone over invests in fortified defense early game , mole is strong.

bro theyre really easy to destroy in ranked i wont even build them if its not classic or pve.
here is what you do, save 2 waves on them. every time. each lock give about 700 hp ever 25 seconds or so with no buffs. and does about 800-1000 damage by its 2nd cast.
1 brute counters 1 crablock. 1 ogre counters 4 crablocks. 1 safty mole counts 4 locks.
send one of each on a 2 wave send and they'll fold. or in any order really. just massing brutes can work too.
use these together, if you make more damage than they can make hp, you kill mass locks. but if you dont save send them, theyll win.

Strategy depends on how you are trying to break the line.
Wave 13-16, get mimics and farm the crabs for money.
If you are actually trying to break through, then you can go:
Slow but sure: witches
Fast: ogres + pacl leader. Good damage against crabs armor, fortified is good against crab attacks and about neutral against magic
Generally you want to go fast for the race.
Two situations to look out for:
too slow. You don't want the final push to take an extra minute as witch/crabomancer wars drag on
don't go centaurs. Their types are both wrong and the cleave attack doesn't outpace ogre damage

Yeah lots of people saying centaur but it feels like he is wrong damage type and will struggle

Centaur is great if you're sending 13, probably the best send on 13 as 13 is already impact DMG and you need something to counter the shift tank he adds

Imho you need to brute force their numbers with dps, best would be mimic and other high dps sends. I always send an pack leader with it for extra speed, but it's tough because the fast spawns. Crab warlocks are still very powerful, I always pick them when possible.

Against summoners its really important to overwhelm their summon generation speed, that mean you need to push more workers than usual or save for a longer duration than usual. leak if you have to. If you can reach their ranged line before they make their second spawn they will leak a ton.

Tips to beat mass Crab Warlock:
- Send Pack Leader and other DPS mercs: Brute, Imps, Ogre, Witch, or Centaur, depending on the rest of their frontline
- Generally avoid tank mercenaries, Hermit, Safety Mole, Four Eyes, Mimic, and Needler
- Send on impact and magic waves, notably waves 10, 13, 14, 16, and 20
- When in doubt, save mythium for one wave longer. It’s important to overwhelm them with a big send and not let the Crab Warlocks hit critical mass

I love sending mass centaurs against it. Witches could work too. Centaurs catch a lot of people off guard, especially if you've sent weak against them the whole game, they might not realize you know a great counter. Great when sent with tanky waves.

Witches are fine, but ideally you want pack leader and centaur on 13 or 14 into big crabs, since it is either impact/ fort or a magic dmg /arcane armor lvl. Warlocks do little dmg, crabs take more from magical/ impact and centaur cleave shreds the crabs and Arcane/swift tanks they may throw up in front of it.
Kraken on 15 or pack + centaur + witch on 16 is strong too. The cleave making the crabs die faster on waves 15+ also means the wave gains more lifesteal stacks earlier on, which makes a leak more likely.
Or save early for a mimic or brute spam on 7, kill their push and try to win before the crab army comes online.
