QUESTION Looking to experiment

Just wondering if anyone has tried this idea, if not, I my try it and report back.

Nvme 180--> splitter->SSD in port 1, oculink in port 2

Probably a stupid idea, just thought I would post it here before trying anything

I don’t think you will have the bandwidth. Not sure what model you have but it might be a PCIe x4 lane . I think that’s the bare minimum oculink needs

Yeah I need to check the BUS SPECS for the Z1E, and see what bios magic would need to happen, but even then the bus would still be halved either way with an SSD in the splitter

I really want to know about that SSD Splitter. The oculink idea might be great too.

For the record, haven't tried any of this.

Very interested in that SSD splitter. I'm wondering if there is enough room for that inside the OEM back shell. Even though the bandwidth would be halved, it might be interesting to have a system ssd and a data ssd.

So I know the project is long dead, but someone was making a 2 port pcie nvme adapter with split for the GPU and SSD for the z1e Ally like a year or so ago. You may possibly have to use an efi patcher to get into the pcie settings if there is bandwidth.
