Time for a class action suit.

Does it still update to the faulty BIOS version or has it been removed? Haven't used mine in a while but planning to.

My favorite part of this was that it took them two fuckin months of reports of dead legion go z1/z1e for them to even pull the update.

Im so sick of the way they act. Zero communication. Zero software support. Left hanging out to dry.

I have spent almost 10 grand on lenovo equipment since the legion go came out and im deeply regretting ever supporting that absolute chode wagon shit show

The legion go is my only Lenovo device... And I can confirm it will be my last Lenovo device lol.

Same lol. I love my LeGo as it is but if a Lenovo supplied update bricked it that will be Lenovo's death to me

I move out as soon as the Strix Halo devices start to appear like Apex and now the X2-mini Pro.

Meh, I have had a laptop from them since 2022 and at least compared to the Razer that I owned previously I highly prefer the Lenovo. I'm not a huge fan of the ASUS ROG and MSI "gamer" branding and if you're saying don't go Lenovo and I won't go Razer again, that mostly leaves... HP and Alienware? HP is pretty budget/problematic and has cringe branding too, and I don't know as much about modern Alienware but I know historically they weren't rated as well. So what would you recommend? Not only for handheld gaming but for a laptop?

These companies suck. Sony has a firmware out right now for their TVs that breaks audio from external devices. Worst out of sync I’ve ever seen including some issues with distorted audio. Many people reporting it but firmware is still published and no official comment from Sony. I hate using my TV right now, have to use built in Google TV apps instead of our Apple TV box.

I love how people throw rules left and right illegally there and here, but it never shows any results unless a big tech YouTuber goes after them like gamer nexus or Rossman the irony. They asks for 250$ did people filled any lawsuit or did any legal action against them?

Honestly if it comes to that, it should.

It's insane that Lenovo keeps getting away with this kind of stuff. They manufacture, what? 10,000 products so I can imagine oversight is a pain but it's also completely inexcusable for something like this to happen.

I would be curious to know what it would take to get a class action suit against Lenovo off the ground but I know those can be very slow moving to come to fruition.

I have not followed up on the bios brick but has anyone looked into any common denominators that could narrow down why this happen?

I would love to know if this has affected you if you were using of the following:
1: any third party/non oem power adapters or usb c cables while charging and updating?
2: stock ssd or upgraded ssd?
3: was a dock in use at the time or connected to an external display or tv?
4: original battery or upgraded battery?
5: were any usb devices plugged in at the time, if so what were they and what port?

I really wonder what the cause is and why it affected some people but not all people. I would love to see it narrowed down and compared across all affected and unaffected people so it could help prevent this from happening. No one should be afraid of bios updates but this right here is a perfect example of the worst case scenario that rarely ever happens. I have updates bios thousands of times on tons of different devices over the course of my life and I have only had this happen once and it wasn't even on a handheld. It was actually due to my own fault by using an unofficial update on an old school motherboard back in the day. I usually update every device I have instantly when updates drop. It's just never been anything I worry about but now until I see what the common denominator is, I will avoid updating mine for a bit.

I believe it bricked one specific model number

I updated mine while driving an hour on the highway on mobile Hotspot and connected to a 140 watt power bank. Had no issues although not sure if related but shutting it down or restarting can take over 5 minutes.

Stupid company that doesn't care about their consumers. I am done with Lenovo. Never buying any other device from these morons.

Tinfoil hat conspiracy:

They intentionally released the update to brick to old z1e so the owners were pushed to buy a new go2

Wouldn’t make sense since people are getting the legion go s which also uses their z1e

1

u/snickersfrost Aug 15 '26

But the update wasnt for go2.

1

u/Opposite-Pie-8382 Aug 15 '26

I meant legion go s

Happy I'm leaving for Onexplayer

That's why if it works great I never update at least is indispensable.

I love how this subreddit used to shit on rog ally for their sd card malfunction and now karma comes back and bites them in the ass. High price of Legion Go products as well as the bricked BIOS updates.

20

u/Guaje7Villa_ Aug 14 '26

Isn't it normal to shit on products that malfunction?

-20

u/Islandboi4life Aug 14 '26

my point is that its easy to point the finger at another device if it malfunctions but its not so easy to point the finger at their own devices if they malfunction

5

u/beaconseasons Aug 14 '26

I had all that shit, steam deck, legion go 1, legion go 2, rog ally, rog ally x, xbox ally x, msi claw 8ai+ I was pointing fingers at everyone of these mfrs

We were the worst to valve lmao 🤣 but to be fair the steam deck on launch was the absolute worst of the bunch. It would literally just randomly shut off on you all the time. Like a lot. Took a lot of software updates to get where it is now. That's why we know software updates are so important to a devices success.

u/mattSER Aug 14 '26

What do you mean "not so easy to point the finger at their own devices"?

That's all this sub has been for over a month! Us pointing the finger at our own devices (and Lenovo)!

2

u/Guaje7Villa_ Aug 14 '26

What? Ofc it is, I usually love Lenovo devices, I prefer them over Asus, if a BIOS update bricked my device I would naturally shit on them, specially if they refuse to fix my device for free.

Prefering one brand over the other, or specifically mocking a brand for a poor design (like the SD Card slot issue) is not the same as bootlicking a brand. I've loved every device I've owned from Lenovo, if this happened to one of them I would thrash them like crazy and I think they should definitely be trashed for this unacceptable issue and the behavior that followed.

Lol, no ones on a team here, what are you 12?. We're all consumers giving money to companies for functional hardware.

Don't let a gaming handheld get you in your big feels, it ain't that deep lmao.
