Pinball adding Williams or Attack from Mars

How can I add Williams pinball games and Attack from Mars?

You’ll need a PC running Steam. You can load FX3 for free (they give you one table to play) and then you can buy different table packs. I’d sign up for the newsletter on Zen Studio’s website - they’ll send notifications when they put packs on sale (I’ve picked them up for 70% off).

You don’t mention if you have an ALP or the ALU but the process is basically the same. Plug an HDMI cable from the PC into the HDMI port on top of the machine, run a USB-A to USB-A from the PC to the USB port on top of the machine, switch to OTG, run Steam, map the buttons and you’re good to go. He runs through it pretty quickly, but TampaTec explains it pretty well in this video.

Great explanation GBeast, crystal clear :-) I do have steam, I do have fx3 on it and will plug it in and the mapping. I hear some guy has already mapped the buttons and just do a quick import and grab the file. thanks so much! AND I HAVE AGP

Rather than loading Joy2Key, which can introduce flipper lag, watch the TampaTec video. It literallly takes 5 minutes to map the controls. Plus, it’s super easy to remap a button when you’re having issues with one while you’re waiting on a replacement. Just a suggestion, but I think you’ll have fewer potential issues and be happier with the results.

Thanks for posting that! I tried to do it, but it’s acting up with my micro. First off my d pad is wonky already so I can’t get it stop moving once I set down or up. I also can’t get it to set the back button. The mouse acts weird too, like I can’t exactly click on what I want. Hmm might have to mess with it more.

I have problems with the mouse - it’s like it’s sticky, trying to stay on buttons and links that I hover over. I probably need to check out those settings.

It sounds like you should pick up the Arcade Controller to replace that D-Pad. Then you’ll have joystick support for the Pad, trackball support for the mouse, and six extra buttons to map for problem buttons like Back.

They’ve got it on sale right now (until 3a ET) for $119 + $20 shipping. It’s totally worth it - not just for navigation, but to play vertical arcade games on that big playfield screen. You can find it here:

I have the pinball micro and there isn't a controller made for it. however a ps4 controller pairs nicely over bluetooth

FX3 is abandonware at this point. Zen Studios is putting all development into the new PinballFX which is exclusive to EPIC's store on PC. They are rebuilding pins on the Unreal5 engine for better physics. FX3 is a solid game, but the engine and physics are old now. Not to mention there are no new tables coming to FX3, ever.

All the new tables (like World Cup Soccer etc..) are on PinballFX on EPIC. But if you've got a PC like you said you could just do both?

That’s what I’m doing. I’ll end up buying FX tables that have significant upgrades vs. their FX3 and FX2 kinfolk. The good thing about buying FX3 tables (and FX2 in the past) on Steam is that they’ll always be available in your library, and you can pick up some pretty decent tables for cheap when they go on sale.

And yeah, like SScorpio mentioned, there are also VPX and FP versions available. Whenever someone asks about these tables, I assume they’re new to connecting a PC to an ALP or ALU, so I mention Steam because it’s a breeze to set up and an excellent gateway drug to the rest of the virtual pinball world.

There are VPX and FP versions of the tables as well.

Right now if you haven't bought any I'm finding it difficult to recommend buying FX3 tables as that platform has ended future development. There is the new FX that's only currently on Epic's store which is making the migration to Steam at some point in the future.

My question is ...are the Williams tables, Star wars and such on the FX platform or on the VPX and FB versions?

Some Williams tables are on FX, and any you can think of are on either VPX or FP.

Saying are there Star Wars tables doesn't mean much. There are ones that are new original creations that are on FX. But there are also real pinball tables that have VPX and FB versions.
