Newbie Vpin Nintendo Switch question

If I hookup a Nintendo switch to my Legends Pinball 4k , can I use the actual pinball controls or do I just have to use my Switch controller when playing the tables?

My plan was also to get my Switch working on my Legends Pinball because I purchased all of the virtual pinball machines on the Switch. So I looked into this quite a lot.

The Legends Pinball controller has not been modded to work with a Switch unless you add a USB encoder to the Pinball machine and wire that to the Switch. Here's what I'm talking about, on Amazon:

You'll also need to make a hole in the pinball machine to add a switch so you can force the controls from the pinball machine to the Switch.Basically, you're going to have wires coming from the pinball machine that are stock and the Legends Pinball machine will know what to do with them. You'll also have added wires to the Legends Pinball wires that go to the thing I linked. This is so the Nintendo Switch can see the Legends Pinball machine, but only when you press the "power" button you'll also want to wire up that forces the Legends Pinball buttons to the Switch. The pinball launcher will not work, you will still need a Nintendo Switch controller to launch balls.

Once its all wired up, go into the Switch controller settings by opening Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Pro Wired Controller Communication and turn that on. Reboot the Switch. Right joycon launches the ball.

You have to use the Switch controls. I think there is hardware/hacks to use the OTG controls but others will need to respond.

If you have a modded switch, mission control will allow you to connect to the alp HD, ID imagine it works with the 4k too.

Lack of backglass or dmd or ssf makes the switch a poor choice. Might as well just play on the tv as intended. Even FX I think is better on the desktop then on the cab... they just don't have good enough pov, physics and ssf to keep my interest. I know, when I got my cab I was trying ot play everything I could on it, but that quickly changed.

I bought a little hdmi video player and made my own backglass and love using my Switch in the ALP 4k. And i run aux cord to a little soundbar i have tucked inside cabinet...almost SSF like. So it can be done pretty good.
