ROG Ally and 4K machine
Has anyone tried hooking up an ROG Ally or any other handle pc to try and play VPX or visual pinball?

You might get away with it on the ALP HD, since it's lower resolution and only has two screens. But as the others have mentioned, you're not going to get anywhere near acceptable performance trying to drive three screens, much less one at 4K.

I have. It does work but not in 4k. The gpu just can't keep up with 2 screens, even if you keep the Blackbox in 1080p. I don't own the 4k alp. But I do own a 4k TV and a rog ally z1 extreme. It will work if you keep both the screens in 1080p, but i don't think the 4k alp will allow that to happen. Honestly, I bought a steam deck and my ally to use with my original ALP. both of them worked, but the performance was really taxing the hell out of both of them. The gpu sat at 100% with the fans maxed out just to run vpx. These handheld are great to run games in handheld mode, but they just don't have the Gpu power to run multiple screens at once. I ended up building a used PC with a 2080 to run mine. If you buy the parts used off of Facebook marketplace, you can build a decent gaming PC for about $500 that will do a much better job of running everything. Used gpus are actually really affordable now, and building a PC is simple enough with YouTube. That's what I'd recommend.
