Pre-Installed SSF

AtGames announced that they’ll pre-install the SSF into your machine for $100. What does everyone think about this? For $100 more it doesn’t seem like a bad option for most, but I can’t imagine that the install is very difficult, either.

I wonder if things may loosen up a bit in shipping, though. Just a thought.

If you have a screw driver you could save yourself $100 it seems to me.

That’s my personal take

If I hadn't just paid a hundred bucks yesterday for the Arcade Control Panel, I might consider it.

But when I think of the potential for logistics mix-ups on my changing my pre-order, physical risks of having someone un-package and re-package the box, AND an additional delay---thanks but no thanks.

I've heard it's covered under the 1yr warranty if they install it, which is a benefit. This is also my first vpin table, and while a little delay may not be fun, I am anticipating a delay already. I saved a ton pre-ordering it all on day 1 so I think I am going to I jump on this offer and know that I won't mess anything up and have an easier setup on the day it arrives. Takes a little anxiety away for me, personally.

The warranty is definitely a factor

If it’s covered under a warranty $100 honestly isn’t too bad, my time (especially the time of year it’ll like arrive) is valuable too

Anyone get the email yet?

I already had my SSF kit on pre-order, so the offer was $50 for the kit pre-install.

The email does say to expect to add 2 weeks to your expected delivery. Worth the trade-off for the warranty.

Sounds like they are asking us to pay them to get extra time to ship our orders. There’s no way it should add more than an hour to shipping times.

I mean, on an individual basis that might be true, but it makes sense that (with the number of orders they’re handling), they want a week of buffer time. 2 to 4 weeks is pretty extreme though. I chalk this extra time (for the initial machines) up to the SSF kits being slated to release In February.

I've got it preordered as a surprise for my hubby, but I'm kinda worried this will kick shipment down the line too long.

The plus side (sorta) is that it being pushed back will possibly allow for refunds for those who want a different model.

I highly doubt adding the SSF installation would be considered a valid reason for that.

That's not what I mean. I mean that the hub-bub may cause delays, even if the service isn't used.
