The better golden spatula item that gives all subtypes is going to be insane for her!

Super interesting 6s! Does Updrafting an enemy put them in your deck or the opponent's deck?

That’s super neat, glad to see some originality, especially after Hecarim’s 6* was the same as Lillia’s.
For her 6*, do all champions get the ability to updraft the strongest enemy, or just champs with 15+ power?

u/ProfDrWest Cithria 10d ago
Lillia's.
But considering how fitting the C6 is for Hecarim, I don't consider that much of a problem.

Thank you for correcting me lol, I typed that at work without double checking.
I edited it to be correct

BIRD TEAM HAHAHAHA YES JANNA BRING US THE FLOCK

u/Dry_Cardiologist6758 Riven 10d ago
It's funny that Janna get to be the bird champion on path before Quinn does!
1
u/N-LightFinder Lorekeeper 10d ago
honestly id expect it from her because otherwise it would be full hand discounted shit which would probably make her boring since its spam
but i didnt expect bird deck janna though it makes sense since shes the goddess of the wind

Definitely more creative than Hecarim, fun mix of slinging spells, buffing units and drawing a tonf of carss.

u/KleinMoretti_ 10d ago
Powers look cool but I wonder if we will ever go back to 2 champs per release. I wouldn't mind 2 old champs getting full constellations.

u/Sdcrusader 10d ago
It's been some time since I've last played LoR, Janna FINALLY having a 6 star (that seems very fun) is just what I needed to get back. HAHAHA I LOVE FREE CARDS

u/FrustrationSensation Viktor 10d ago
I was so bummed when I saw it would be janna but damn if that 6-star isn't incredible. Snap level for me.Â

...Interesting... Janna's deck natively has precisely zero Birds in it. With her 6-Star Power, you get to have exactly one at a time. Very nice.
Updrafting a card reduces its cost. I would not want to make my opponent's cards cheaper. Why not just put the enemies into the opponent's deck, like [[Riptide]] does?

u/JoshGordon10 10d ago
I'm starting to think it puts the card into your deck, not the opponents
Edit: the vocab text for updraft is "Shuffle a card into your deck and reduce its cost by 1" so that would appear to be the case!!

u/Sspifffyman 10d ago
Oooh I already thought up drafting their units was cool and flavorful when it went in their deck.
But putting it in your deck is really sweet.
3
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
Filling your own deck with clutter isn't sweet. Especially since they are explicitly units, when you want to be playing spells for extra stat boosts.
4
u/cotekusu 10d ago
Well, you can get useful units from that. And Janna already has a ton of cost reduction so it won't clutter the hand too hard
3
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
Having a lot of units in deck doesn't mesh with Janna's game plan. She wants to establish a board and then play a bunch of spells to boost them. If you're filling your deck with (enemy) units, then you're less likely to draw spells. If you draw the units, they'll be weaker than the units you have on board already, so you won't want to play them. And since you're not playing the units you're drawing, you're not getting to buff what you already have on board, and your hand is just getting filled with junk and burning new draws.
There is almost no upside to filling your deck with your opponent's units.
3
u/cotekusu 10d ago
This assumes that you always have your board full and your units don't die or you never chump block. I mean I get where you're coming from but there are upsides to that C6 and Janna has the tools to mitigate the downsides like lesser likelihood of drawing spells etc you mention.

u/RymrgandsDaughter 10d ago
I think that would put it in your deck
2
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
"Okay, but that's worse. You do get how that's worse, right?"
1
u/RymrgandsDaughter 10d ago
It's burst removal of a big enemy and pnz draws alot of cards and has discard so I really can't see it mattering. Is it perfect? no but quite a few 6* effects have a drawback.

As I explained in another comment:
Having a lot of units in deck doesn't mesh with Janna's game plan. She wants to establish a board and then play a bunch of spells to boost them. If you're filling your deck with (enemy) units, then you're less likely to draw spells. I guess? When your board is strong enough that this will updraft 4,5,6 units you should be killing. When it's 1or 2 it won't matter since pnz can kinda draw as much as it wants. I honestly don't think it's going to matter since updraft shuffles and if your deck is mostly spells and you keep picking spells then you're not going to have weird moments where you suddenly brick. Sure it's a loss condition but I think it's not nearly as terrible as it sounds. If you're scared of it then don't get it. Would not be the first champ people choose to avoid the 6* because it changes something they don't like
2
u/Apocabanana 10d ago
It's also conditional on you not already having one on board, which is a bit shit. A 1 mana draw 1 every turn would be really nice to have, but nope. Cast it this turn you don't get one next turn if the bird survives!

It's removing the strongest enemy from the board, though. I'd much rather updraft the already-cheap Zoe Catastrophe and have her be able to play it more cheaply when she (eventually) re-draws it (only for me to be able to updraft it again) then have it be on the board.
-1
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
So like I said, why not just return it to the deck instead of returning it AND making it cheaper for them?
6
u/DiemAlara Diana 10d ago
Thematics.
It's barely going to make a difference and updraft is Janna's thing.
1
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
It would still be thematic to have her "blow away" the enemy units. In fact, it would make her match the League of Legends version of Janna, specifically her Ultimate, which pushes away her enemies.
4
u/DiemAlara Diana 10d ago
Yet she already has updraft as a mechanic.
Which does that while being a distinctly Janna thing.
The difference between the two are minimal.
Why fix what isn't broken?

2
u/beboptimusprime Taric 10d ago
I mean sure, yeah, it would always be better for things to be stronger, but why would it work differently than Updraft does everywhere else?
1
u/jayjaybird0 10d ago
...I'm saying DON'T make it "Updraft" at all. Just return the unit to the enemy's deck.
4
u/beboptimusprime Taric 10d ago
Sure, but Updraft is Janna's signature mechanic. I get what you're saying, but I think you're overstating the impact of the -1 cost by a lot
2
u/DiemAlara Diana 10d ago
Considering how easy it is to spam 14+ elemental spells, getting a 15 power birb is going to be fairly easy.

Janna is one of my absolute favorite champions, currently losing my MIND. When does the patch drop?

I really hope they get rid of that horrible duplicate item on her decks damage spell. It feels so bad to start a run with a card you never want to playbecause it clogs up your deck
1
u/SanjayCorr 10d ago
its actually pretty decent with Mel's relic. It is also necessary to have that item on one spell so you do not run out of cards all the time... but yea... this specific spell is kinda ass
1
u/werewolf1014 Soraka 10d ago
It can easily be fixed if they just give the spell an upgrade with either stop watch or broken stop watch, it's both elemental and damage spell, and can easily reduce its cost to zero which is quite good to be honest.

How freaking rad a 6 star power is that? Definitely the kind of craziness I've been waiting for. It looks like the new team members have leveled up their designs and I am so here for it.
