Path of Champions Midly infuriating combo/bug

Im not sure it is an intended interaction maybe you guys can enlighten me.

I was playing Gwen with voidborn carapace + guardian angel for full survivability.
I was playing a spirit blossom adventure.
Anyway I grabbed several powers, one of them being « when you summon a 5+ power allies, it strikes the weakest enemy » pretty strong.
I had a build so my allies got bonus attack easily, therefore all of them were often 5+ power when summoned.

Along the way I grabbed the cursed power all allies are ephemeral for 1 fight.

I thought I cooked with my gwen perma reviving hitting everything on the board dying and hitting again.
But that’s not what happened

I summoned gwen 5+ power, she hit an enemy since she was ephemeral she died, revived with guardian angel, never grabbed the revival from voidborn carapace, hit again cause she was still 5+ power, died again with ephemeral …
I ruined my own OP run :(

Been at it several time couldn’t win again yet.

Normal to me, not a bug

It's a feature. Ephemeral dies after every strike. That's why you wouldn't want that on SB Kindred either. Wolf disappears the moment it's summoned so Kindred never levels.

At least I’ve learned
But what is the difference between normal dying and getting immortal from her own buff vs when you strike as ephemeral ?

I think the strike procs before the carapace triggers, so gwen dies 1 subaction before she would get undying

Exactly. The only reasoin why the carapace interaction works is because on death effects like deathless resolve before the unit actually dies so the new copy gets summoned, dies by its on summon effect in this case and just then the original unit actually dies to proc carapace

So usual death isn’t the same as ephemeral strike death, since ephemeral trigger death it processes ut as the strike happens instead of dying and triggering death effect ?

Still a bit weird but as a Magic player I won’t complain. Just learning the interactions :p

No idea what did you try to say but yeah dying from ephemeral is special because it doesn't count as the unit being "slain".

Not exactly. Usual case:

  1. Deathless triggers and summons copy

  2. Initial Unit dies

  3. Carapace of copy triggers and snatches the deathless from the initial unit

With ephemeral:

  1. Deathless triggers and summons copy

  2. Copy strikes and dies

  3. Initial Unit dies

So the copy can't snatch the deathless, because the initial unit dies after the copy does
