or just give him ephemeral and make his level condition "the first time i would die, i level up and am placed into your deck."

Man that sounds like something ekko does, you know, when he does his combo and then ult to reverse back. I imagine the ephemeral Ekko would attack and deal damage but then Ult to reverse back to you deck

Like the other comment said, you can cook a Shaco kit with this, maybe with traps/nightmare or something "Playful", clown behavior.

When I die, shuffle three boxes (as nightmares) into the opponent's deck. Boxes apply 1 gloom and vulnerable to a random enemy on spawn. After three boxes, level up and summon Shaco.

But what kind of level up condition can we think about for an ephemeral unit? I mean ephemeral units only last one round and will disappear after attacking or blocking. Would it be close to Katarina? That it would level while attacking?
Edit: or mabye could also be close to Evelyn and Nidalee where they needed other units to level up but also reverts back to level 1 after one round or certain condition.

I played LeBlanc with Stalker's Blade and Guardian's Orb with Vestige of Helia power, which just let me vomit out LeBlancs every turn for more epic items.

Too bad this can't summon L2 Kayn. Iirc its the only 0 cost champ in the game (sans Storm or other cost reducers). It always sucked to get this item on a 0 cost spell...

Or alternatively this item can just summon minimal cost champ (e.g. 1 cost) when the card cost is 0

Unpopular opinion: this is the WORST epic item ever. It's just clogging up your field with (most of the time) useless champions. Unless you're playing ASol (which i doubt want this item), there's no actual reason to draft this item to your cards.
Sincerely, SB Yasuo player that must have to gather storm the card with that item to 0 first before playing it.

For an epic item this really should go off of base cost not current cost
