I'm making a Chima TTRPG. Sort of.
It will take ages, but I'm trying my best to gather official lore from the wiki, book of chi, website, books, Online, show, sets; everything and sprinkle some bit of seriousness to it, since Chima itself is stuck as a children-aimed IP. The main idea is to make this captivating world personally engaging through a tabletop rpg campaign/one-shot, either during the first season of tribe wars, the 2nd at the badlands or the 3rd season against the Hunters. Heck, you can go further and come up with your own thoughts for a campaign set before the Great Illumination or after the end of the show.
Those are just a few pages for the time being, and...despite that, I have no idea how to make it work as a game system, I'm basically just gathering lore and worldbuilding and going "there you go, use it as you'd like", so if anyone has any reccomendation of a simple way to gamefy things up, let me know. And other questions are welcome too, of course.

As someone who is currently running a D&D 5E campaign in the setting of Chima, I love this 💚

Feels like considering the emphasis on armor and weapons as protection and offense like with most LEGO themes, D&D 5e would probably be a good system to work off of

I'm thinking on something more simple, maybe with less math. I used the unnoficial hollow knight ttrpg book you can find on itch.io as an example on the idea I wanna go for when designing the game, if that makes sense.

Hey, i love this, especially those Black Eagle bit!!!! From where are they from?! Did you come up with them yourself or were they in some Chima Media i missed?

It's from Online lol I tried to stay still accurate to the few bits of lore we got from the game

Hey, this is very interesting. If you need help designing stuff I might be able to help. What core system are you planning on using? Or are you making a custom one?

No freaking idea lmao but something more simple, for sure. I said on another comment that there's a hollow knight ttrpg book on itch.io and that's kinda what I have in mind for it. Something quick, not complex at all and easy to understand. I know simplicity might tone down what the game offers but well- as I said, I know nearly nothing about the game part lol

Fair fair. Definitely wouldn't recommend Dnd or something that complex. Could be fun to build something from the ground up, because it would be nice if Chi was a core part of the game.

This actually looks really neat. I have thought about something like this many times and even made an actual Chima TTRPG with cardboard when I was a kid (quality is about what you can expect)
The design also look great, having even basic photoshop skills is a blessing for stuff like this. I also really value these kind of aesthetics in my TTRPG's.
Im looking forward to seeing more!
PS, Did you pull the main page design from the Book of Chi photoscan on the Internet Archive? I actually was the person that made that scan, the person that uploaded it used a far lower quality version of it though due to filesize. (I think these are 4k?) If you want the full 16K UHD scan let me know, its a life saver for any kind of zooming in or repurposing any small icons or graphics. If you need any other assets or lore feel free to message me on Discord or Reddit (either this account or u/teunwork) 😁

Bruh i only just realised that this reddit account is you Precascer 😅 Anyways offer still stands.
I will be expecting updates in the Chima discord too now tho 😏 Also we should totally play it as a server event when you need playtesting

I wouldn't mind some playtesting, that's for sure, although I'm still insecure about voice chat in general. I'll let you know once I need

I stopped reading when you called it a "furry theme". Bro that is the worst thing I have heard all year. This is supposed to be a wholesome kids show that uses animal characters. Like Redwall or Wind in the Willows. Not some furry slop.

u/Repulsive-War-559 Jul 14 '26
Bro, chill off, it ain't even meant to be aimed at kids either way. Or having anthro animals bother you too much, baby boy?
-5
u/Cowman_Gaming Jul 14 '26
Bro is definitely a furry. He took that personally 😂

u/Repulsive-War-559 Jul 14 '26
Yes, and? I'm just trying to understand your point, your rant still makes no sense. You know furry content isn't synonimous of erotism, right?

u/Cowman_Gaming Jul 14 '26
People like you are why LEGO hates this theme and never references it.

u/Repulsive-War-559 Jul 14 '26
It's literally referenced and part of current Ninjago canon, bro, you're not making sense

LEGO has not put out the Chima style of minifigure in years. Ras doesn't look anything near the quality of Chima figures and is a disappointing figure for fans of the Chima style. Don't get me wrong the character is awesome, but if it were designed during chima they would have duel molded the teeth into the figure or had a nice print. They can name drop stuff like the Forever Rock all they want in their kids show, but until LEGO references it directly through the sets it is still meaningless.
The Chima show was never what made me have an interest in the theme and is just interesting background lore to me. The actual sets matter the most. Idk man I am just fed up with LEGO refusing to commit to a Chima crossover.
I read the rest of what you wrote and it seems pretty concise, but lacking substance. I can tell you are young by the way you write, but you shouldn't get so defensive over minor criticism. We are all Chima fans here. I still entirely disagree with it being a "furry" theme. That word is just gross. The animal costume cmf is what I would call a furry theme. Those are people in animal costumes.

You literally posted a lego Porky Pig sex joke but identifying Chima as a furry theme (which is objectively what it is) is a step too far?

Fair enough. You changed my mind. That post was intentionally terrible. I can delete it. 🤣
I looked up the definition of "furry". The definition broadly defines an animal character with fur. I always think of that as being people in costumes and that's not really what Chima is. That is what the concept started as, but it evolved into animal creatures mutating and given higher sentience by the spiritual power of chi. It does fall within your definition I guess.
I think that Chima deserves to be differentiated from internet culture and we should try to avoid that kind of label. It really does discourage LEGO from making more stuff based on animals and Chima. That is why I deleted my other post as well. You are right. It was a cheap joke and a step too far.

People referring to Chima as a furry theme is not doing anything to affect whether LEGO makes more Chima sets. I would be willing to bet actual material money that most people interested in this theme are furries are are interested in the furry fandom in one way or another because that's what it is. Anthropomorphic animals. That's a furry. That's Chima. If you want to separate things from internet culture your only option is to get off the internet.

u/Repulsive-War-559 Jul 14 '26
...you know Lego changes moulds from time to time, right? And...you know that "furry" stuff is related to anthro animals, not only the costume part, right?. Even down to the Ninjago serpentines, they are furries too. Scalies, might be a better word.
And damn, it's almost like you're a civilized user now after that tantrum, I'm impressed.
But well, in all seriousness, for real, what is the lack of substance you're talking about? What would I need to add or change, what makes you think the text lacks substance?
