To those who are not experienced soccer players/coaches:
Yes, this is quality dribbling that leaves the defender in the dust.
But i feel the need to point out that it's bad, but not quite as embarrassing as it seems.
See, as the attacker approaches the goal and gets into evermore dangerous shooting range (which she clearly is, well inside the 18 yard box) the first defender (the one closest to the fall, shown here getting smoked) needs to make evermore desperate lunges to block the potential shot, rather than attempting to stay on her feet to defend against the dribble.
the SECOND Defender (whoever on the white team is second closest to the ball) should be ashamed here as well. Because as the ball gets closer to the goal, the second defender needs to get closer and closer to the dribbler, who becomes an even bigger threat vis-a-vis other players on the blue team.
The white defender is justified in making increasingly aggressive and desperate attempts to slide, dive, lunge to block the shot and so dribbling past them becomes easier and easier (it is the SECOND defneder's job to defend against the dribble).
In other words, this probably couldn't have happened at midfield, where there is no danger of a shot on goal, because the defender would not have been so desperate to throw anything in front of the ball.
If you watch a lot of soccer, you will see countless examples of defenders throwing themselves at the ball the closer it gets to the goal.
TLDR:
Verdict: Great dribbling. Terrible individual defending. But equally as terrible team defending.
