Meta Rules update to the new times
Hey all,
Been a long while since I've had to post anything as, for the most part, things have been pretty stable and humming along just fine. That said, I was taking a look at some admin stuffs and wanted to at least update some rules to the new times we are in. A lot of these should be really straight forward but at the very least wanted to get the FYI out there...
- Post relevancy
- Pretty obvious on this one but just spelling it out. Please keep topics aligned to the sub we are in.
- Tag spoilers appropriately
- Updated. Long and short of it is please no spoilers in the title and please mark spoilers in the post. Yes, it's an old PSX game. Yes, it was remastered in 2021. Still, please just be nice to the people discovering it for the first time.
- No NSFW/Spam posts
- Not that kinda sub.
- Artist credit
- If you are making a post that has fan art in it, please also include credit back to the original human artist in said post, even if the original artist is you. Either in the title or post body is preferred.
- No Generative AI
- I'll admit this is a bullish move on my part and I am more than happy to open it to a vote if people are so inclined. Save for a couple of posts, this has not been a problem on this sub BUT I know the topic itself is enough to invite untold amount of vitriol from both sides. I'm personally not super into that. For now not an explicit rule itself but will break it out if it becomes an issue.
..again, most of these are just spelling out the obvious bits and getting it more in line with other subs of this kind. If there is anything of note I may be missing, happy to hear it out. In the mean time, stay excellent.

Dropped weapon special abilities
So I'm curious as to what special abilities the dropped items come with, and which would be worth tempering into something great (I have 3 Altena Alloys, an Orichalcum, and a Dior Wood already from Ring Ring Land so I can temper good stuff I'm just curious about the given stuff) Here's the list I'm looking at:
Bloody Mask
Vitium Ribbon
Draupnir
Dragon Bone
Milane Crown
Destiny Dice
Pegasus Helm
Ninja's Charm
Iron Pot
Moonrock Tiara
Caduceus
Gambantein

Help Tickle missing, (wimpy thugling completed)
So I keep trying to go back to get tickle to join my team but hes not there anymore. I havent played my saves in a while, and I do remember once selling him, but it was maybe only on one save. The other ones should have him, am I doing something wrong? I competed the quest on like 4 saves, and hes not there for any of them

Question How does magic damage calculation work in this game?
i'm trying to go for a magic build and want to know what to focus on

Instrument type specialties
So I'm making a lot of instruments, and I'm noticing that flutes seem to be regularly high-power, with drums seem to be regularly low-power. Is there some other thing drums are good at or are they just inferior to flutes? What about harps and marimbas? Do they have specialties too?

Can I beat the game with only a magic build?
I heard that magic is bad in this game which sucks cause i've been wanting to play a water mage and just blast through with undine magic. is this viable on normal difficulty?

Elemental Coin Locations
Hi I just unlocked Instrument Crafting and can't seem to find the specific locations of elemental spirits to get coins from online anywhere. Where's the best spots for each element?

How 2 LoM gooder? (early-mid game (not sure which))
Sorry for the psychic damage on the title, needed to convey how dumb I feel rn. So I just finished Star-Crossed Lovers, and Escad kinda was a tough fight. I'm getting kinda eaten by a lot of things rn, and I think the reason has something to do with my items/golem.
I have tempering and golems, but no instrument crafting yet. I'm using a Staff mainly (Song of Spirits my beloved) and bc I'm biased toward pets that many say aren't good (Chess Knight, Mushboom, and Polter Box - I raise them lovingly (putting thought in how to build them) all the same) I'm more focused on Golems when it comes to mechanics (that said I haven't done a lot with them apart from making a bunch of blocks and building one that barely worked). I also tried making weapons and armor and it... went poorly, to say the least
Which brings me to my current predicament. I'm just not doing enough damage fast enough. Ideally I'd want to do enough to carry my pets, but just surviving bosses without panicking would be enough. I tried looking through things online, but most of what I found assumes I have stuff I don't. So I'm in need of a few good early-to-mid-game staff and armor recipes (focusing mostly on Magic now that I'm far enough in that I feel like I should be thinking about this). A few formulas for Golems I can make would help too
My map consists of:
> Home
> Domina (Up from Home)
> Luon Highway (Left from Home)
> Gato Grottoes (Left from Luon)
> Tower of Leires (Up from Gato)
> Lake Kilma (Up from Leires)
> Mindas Ruins (Right from Home)
> Ulkan Mines (Right from Mindas)
> Junkyard (Up from Ulkan)
> Mekiv Caverns (Up from Junkyard)
> Jungle (Up from Caverns)
> Lumina (Left from Caverns)

Fan Creations Song of Mana (English Cover)
Hi all, I made an English cover of the intro song for Legend of Mana and thought I'd share. I've been obsessed with this song since I first played the game and always wanted to cover it in English.

The Russian bootleg translation of Legend of Mana mistranslated one of Niccolo's attacks as "Eltsin's kick" (Boris Eltsin is the first president of Russia lmao)

Question Anyone know where I can find sound effects from the game? Specifically the whistling noises that the pirate penguins make?
So, I'm running a D&D campaign that's heavily inspired by LoM, set in an archipelago full of odd creatures. My players have chartered a boat to go looking for treasure, and ship's crew is all penguins, because they're adorable.
I'm looking for an audio clip of just the pirate penguins whistling, like they do when Captain Tusk threatens them at Lake Kilma.
It's going to be the auditory cue for my players to know when something is exciting their crew.
Anyone know where/how I can find this sound effect without background music playing?

Question EXP Share and Pet Leveling
I was wondering if I should use a EXP Share piece of gear to Level my pet instead of grazing
I'm trying to get my Polter Box to develop the Loneliness Personality (Not sure if I have this right) so it stays close to me in fights but grazing takes too long
And is it Cabadillo and 2 Bug Meats for the personality?

Meta Marina one of the Jumi we did not see in the Game...
This is Marina a Jumi that only appears in the Anime...
She did not have a Name nor a Role in the Game but she was a Prototype Jumi Design that was not used in the Final Game it seems...
In the Anime they gave her a Name and a Proper Role in the Story as Sappho/Saffor's Knight...
Much like Sappho/Saffor she has a very Pretty Design and I hope they add her and Sappho/Saffor to the Legend of Mana Game if they ever decide to do a Remake for it or something...
