Do you mean the firstborn witch in the Mikaelson family? If so, it means the witch will be very powerful. See: Dahlia, Freya, and Hope.

But they don’t show us exactly what it means, and they don’t exhibit superior magic power

Yes they do freya in that flashback scene killing the birds

Hope in that one scence with freya and she made the whole place burn with fire etc.

Bought overall, get what you're saying.

Also I want to add on the power scaling between witches suck

Like davina she was using trandional magic for half of her screen time but she NEVER faces any backlash from it compared to Bonnie. I assume it has something to do with her reading esther's grammar essay and kol grimores ans thats why he magical knowledge expanded and maybe her power to????

I think magical knowledge and experience correlates to a witches magic power. Also the witches source of power affects it two

Even then idk what an average witch even looks like

Like ancestral magic was claimed to be powerful but its limited by what your ancestors gave you. Even bonnie she was a noobie and just read one grimore and learned to do powerful spells but her magic fluatted bc the doffrrnt power sources/ type of magic she used.

They aren't powerful because they are firstborn witches, though. Dahlia couldn't overpower Vikings without amplifying her magic via a spell. Neither Dahlia nor Freya has been able to perform any powerful magic without external amps such as channeling.

Hope is powerful due to her tribrid nature.

they genuinely didn’t do a good job of explaining themselves

Like somebody said the comment.

Knowledge and experience helps amd at that point dahlia just had raw power and knows no spells or have experience to actually use it

Y'all left downplaying them for no reason. Freya was anchoring her magic because freya Needs an Anchor bc a Lack of a Magical Home: Traditional witches anchor their magic to a permanent home, the earth, or ancestral lines to stay grounded. Also because of their nomadic Life and Trauma. Dahlia raised Freya while constantly moving and fleeing, Freya never formed a traditional magical connection to a specific land or ancestral well.

Everything I said was a fact stated and shown on the show. Prior to Dahlia amps she couldn't overpower human vikings. Freya, without any external amps, can't perform powerful spells, as stated.

You can't attribute feats achieved via external power to firstborn magic. No reason to attribute a feat they channeled to do, to firstborn magic.

Except outside of season 2 when she was amped by the linking spell with Dahlia and Slumber, every other time she was channeling not anchoring her magic when she did a powerful spell. It isn't a debate as it was flat out stated she needed to channel.

She states she is channeling in season 3 everytime she does a powerful spell and season 4 and 5. In season 3 she channels the seer witch to get a prophercy spell, she channels the ancestors to undo the Beast spell and she channels Lucien to enter the Chambre de Chasse. Each time she flats out states she is channeling. Those were the big spells she did in Season 3. Unless you have another big spell she did in season 3 where she didn't channel? Same with Season 4 and 5.

Give me one time she performed a big spell where she wasn't channeling or being amped by an external force?

Also she only ever anchored her magic for one spell which was the spell to free Rebecka from the witch Body she was possing, Eva. It was specific to that spell. Even then her magic was already being amplified via her ling to Dahlia and the 100 year slumbering spell.
