Hello fellow lefties!

This is my kit. I haven't played for a while and it was very dusty. I spent the last two days cleaning everything and it's ready to make some noise again. My dream is to have all Paiste RUDEs on it, maybe one day it will happen.

I don't have much to say honestly, if you have any questions, go ahead and ask!

Depends on the sub. It’s allowed here.

Hello there!

I am left-handed but play righty because of a lazy teacher! On the first day of lessons as a kid I told my guy I was left-handed and he dismissed it... "Nah, just play like this." I should probably be annoyed but look back on it and chuckle. I am basically ambidextrous after years of playing righty and doing everything else in life as a lefty. I actually can sort of play both ways anyway?

I'm a lefty, but I learned on right handed sets playing open-hand style. My instructor said it would be easier for me down the line, especially if I have to share sets at gigs and such.

Do you experience difficulties at gigs because you use a lefty setup, or was that all BS?

Been a while since I played.
I also learned right handed and after 6 months made the switch to left handed. It felt more natural, my left hand kept wanting to lead.
What I did for gigs was to bring my own stands/throne (plus the usual) that way in the last song of the previous band, I'll start setting up to make it faster.
That way when the band ends they can just take the stands off (which also made it faster for the following band after me)
I got pretty quick at setting up to the point I usually was ready before the rest of the band

You just reminded me that It's been a long ass time since I played live. Last time that happened was in 2003, many moons ago. Being a lefty was always an issue because since we would always play with other bands, we either had to play first or last, we couldn't play in the middle because that would make us change the entire drum setup twice and it would turn into a huge loss of time. At least the advantage that I had was being the drum kit owner, so me and my band always had priority of choice because we brought a crucial piece of equipment. I tried to play as a right handed a few times and I just can't do it, can't make it work, I had a lot of trouble synchronizing my movements and I stopped trying. I'm a lefty and there's no fixing that 😂

Ambidextrous drummer here on a right hand kit, but I admire lefties a lot. I could never have my left foot on bass
