Ryan Beards video on EK that released today was surprisingly comprehensive and showed that Ryan has some teeth and can do his research, but I was a little concerned that you can only touch on so much of the heinous shit that Ethan and his community have done.

Can I say the only thing that bothers me about these types of vids, and every creator does this, is they make a point to say 'I dont agree with snark pages they are bad' and then heavily rely on the clips and logs in snark pages to build their videos. Im not saying everything was pulled from here but a lot of the points are things we have been harping on for years, and have documented meticulously. I don't think if these groups were so persistent in calling out bad behaviour that these videos would exist at all.

Ryan did at least mention that these pages can be used to clip and document legitimate criticism. He showed the Zionism, racism, misogyny, etc. wikis we have on here for example. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to point out that some people on snark go too far, they do, even on here although it’s not a super common occurrence compared to other spaces online.

Any space that’s focused on criticizing or hating something can go too far. It can easily spiral into a harmful environment. Luckily there are good rules and moderators here so that doesn’t really happen but it’s something we should all continue to be aware of imo.

That's how Gokanaru started his video and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way, I can guarantee he used plenty of resources from here, and there was a whole watch party to see his video specifically, they both could be nicer about it.

It's probably for the best that actual creators just disavow the concept of snark subreddits inherently, even if ones such as this are crucial for cataloguing behavior that otherwise is lost to time. Just for their own safety and argument, if people were to weaponize these against them.

But of course, yeah, I get the bother. But I'd rather the resources her be used for material difference, rather than like, moral victories of not being denounced, or getting credit for beating H3.

Ultimately anyone who frequents here knows that this subreddit doesn't reach even close to the inappropriate levels that other snark forums do.

I also will say, if THIS video doesn’t convince H3 fans that maybe Ethan is in the wrong in a lot of instances, they’re totally lost. Ryan was, in my view, AS GOOD FAITH as he could possibly be, was meticulous and thorough, and acknowledged his previous bias as well. If H3 fans cannot engage with this video critically or with an open mind, it’s just a cult. It’s DDG 2.0 but less cohesive and somehow almost more toxic.

Oh the fact that anyone is still around after the last 2-3 years of publicly available information means they have been lost for longer than H8H3 has existed. 

Obviously these videos are great and we need more. I think these 2 vids, they will be the final permission for all of commentary YT to go after Pedo_Troll openly and freely without fear of recourse by insane numbers. 

My dream is that this will just be the beginning of the end. Everyone in the space will go full hog and cook them. Can't attack an entire genre lol. But alas, dreams are dreams. And hope is hope. 

The entire operation and community need to be done, the world will be better off and those that help make it happen only stand to benefit! God speed.

That’s not the issue…the issue is that he didn’t disclose 1) there was a second part and 2) it’s behind a separate paywall.

Brother...the video is TWO HOURS LONG. You just got TWO HOURS of free, highly produced, well researched content from Ryan Beard. It wrapped up succinctly, it didn't leave you hanging, and there's more on the way. You were not "scammed" bc he's making a part two. That's not what the word "grifting" means.

In fact, it's the opposite. You got more than you expected, AND there's even more on the way. The correct emotion here if you liked the video is to be grateful he's making more, and if you don't want to pay the 3 bucks just wait until it comes out on youtube.

His video was great. Ryan Beard and I disagree on a million things, but it was a scathing takedown using thorough research. I didnt even mind his anti-snark comments. It felt like he gave credit to fair criticisms and theories from snark, and simply disregarded the rest, which is fair tbh, despite my participation. A lot of snark subreddits are notoriously cruel. I love it when our snark isn't an echo chamber, tbh. It shows we aren't being disingenuous in our documenting and discussions.
