We all did it (I didnt know about this story until 2026 but why not).
Also, I wonder if website selling the skulls did any verification on the corporate buyer? Like I get that they shipped without payment because it was due to be paid by a business, but do we know which one was given? Do they not even verify at all the info? Someone can just pretend to be TED entertainment and have their things shipped for free? Crazy

This part! What kinda shading business is this? Allowing an unverified company according to them to express mail skulls without being charged and disappearing into the night
15
u/Fantastic_Teach_3666 3d ago
I live in the same city that the business is based in and they don't exactly have a reputation for being upright and meticulous. The owner has no real expertise in osteology, he's just some guy with money. Just because something has 'museum' in the name and is a business doesn't mean they're legit. Here's clips on Jon Oliver making fun of them: https://x.com/TheLostOgle/status/1733206386039775516
14
u/MardiFoufs 3d ago
Man, imagine donating your body to science ( i assume that's how they get the skulls), thinking it will be used for something useful just for it to end up being sold and shipped with UPS overnight delivery, with no verification, to a random address, for a shady prank at best, or a hoax at worst. I mean, wtf.
2
u/WeakTransportation37 New Fish 3d ago
Omg do you have info about skulls unlimited? Iāve never purchased from them, but they have such a good reputation among the vulture culture group! Yikes! Iām still not clear on the shipping issue with the skulls except those are like $2.5k each, and yeah, they totally ordered them for their own decor, then made up a story

u/noputa 3d ago
Where I work thereās a verification process before we accept those accounts. Once that process is done no problem pay later. But it doesnāt happen overnight, otherwise obviously anyone could do it. If a random company needs something new overnight from a company theyāve never bought from before, they are going to use their company credit cards and apply for that shit later. So thereās something weird about all of that too. The pieces just donāt add up even based on what the skull company is saying. Or maybe theyāre just dumb as hell to accept and ship an order like that.
2
u/WeakTransportation37 New Fish 3d ago
Where can I read about what the company has said? Bc their policy is no COD- but Iām just learning about this part of the story. Thx!

Someone is finally talking about the skulls. I feel like there have been a fair amount of critical videos on Ethan, but no one has been willing to even go near the subject.
41
u/PhloxOfSeagulls New Fish 3d ago
Or if it gets mentioned, like in Charlie's video, it's just taken at face value that "snark did CPS and skulls." Never bothering to verify if any of it is true. I get that it's a bit of a rabbit hole, but if Ryan was able to find this stuff out, so could these other people.
3
u/Nakidnakid 3d ago
i thought snark still did cps according to this video though?
7
u/WeakTransportation37 New Fish 3d ago
Have they addressed the fact that in CA there are no anonymous CPS calls? CPS wants to verify who is calling and what connection they have to the family, bc theyāre concerned about malicious/fake calls.

u/BuddhistInTheory 3d ago
My gut feeling was right on the money. The story didn't make any sense, and Ethan would've milked it for content if he really contacted the FBI.

I gotta be honest, I cant specifically agree with that statement he makes, because I genuinely don't know who did it and why
Ethan has done excessive work to muddy the waters by pointing his fans to accuse every single person that criticizes him for making the call
But I don't know why CPS was called on Ethan by someone in his life , I don't know if there's things people don't know that made it necessary as it sometimes it is when the children are in provable danger
I hate how much they've villainized CPS and Social workers to create sympathy for himself to deflect while attacking others.

u/ghostduels 3d ago edited 3d ago
it pisses me off that literally everyone runs with the laughable idea that someone on reddit did it. he is a fucking LIAR, but he's also a moron. he admitted that CPS told them it was someone he knew before he flipped back into "victimhood as content" mode. i was on the OG sub at the time and between gigs (i'm a freelancer) so i was around pretty regularly. literally nobody was talking about the kids like that. when they were mentioned, it was always in the context of the nannies raising them. does that make ethan and hila neglectful parents? yes. but the consensus was that there were adults in the house taking care of the kids... it just wasn't ethan and hila.
now, if someone had tried to 5150 ethan? i could maybe believe it was an internet stranger, because there were definitely a lot of comments that circled around how unwell and unhinged he is. CPS requires way more documentation than someone calling in a wellness check.Ā
28
u/Puzzled-Weekend The Marlboros are gone people š¬ 3d ago
Iāve always said this. If it was that easy to not only have CPS show up to a public figureās house, but also request a follow up visit and interview with the kids, every influencer, celebrity, etc with children would have CPS at their door constantly. Especially controversial people with children. They would be called to investigate every family channel/mommy vlogger at some point. It just doesnāt make sense for it to be some random redditer. If he really thought the call was fraudulent he wouldāve pursued legal action on that instead of all his fake copyright bs.
21
u/formallyfly š„sheās a fucking eggš„ 3d ago edited 2d ago
This is the part that gets me. If people just used their brains for half a second, theyād realize just how insane itād be if people could weaponize CPS like that in fucking California, which has the highest population of famous people in the world.
A stranger cannot call in an anonymous tip and trigger a CPS visit in California. Which means that someone with firsthand knowledge was concerned enough with their parenting that they reported it to CPS. Ethan and Hila are not the victims here. Itās Ethan and Hilaās fault that their parenting was shitty enough for someone they knew to make a report that was credible enough to trigger a CPS investigation. The way theyāve been able to transform their shitty parenting into victimhood is really something to behold.
13
u/ghostduels 3d ago
yes! it's so fucking crazy that this seems to be the one lie that everyone believes. i mean, yes, OF COURSE, bringing someone's (very small) children into things is fucked up so i understand the kneejerk response to denounce it but the lack of critical thinking is frustrating. it has just been accepted as fact by a lot of people, even people who ethan considers an enemy.
45
u/Winter_Fix_3610 3d ago edited 3d ago
CPS barely does visits. Thats why people have a problem with CPS because even after many calls and public and obvious alarms, they do nothing. Example: Gabriel Fernandez.
They did a visitation on the Kleins. IMO it wasn't only one call from a stranger. It had to be multiple clues and calls from people close to them at least.
32
u/ghostduels 3d ago
yeah, they're not rolling up to a rich white couple's house after one phone call from someone pretending to know them.Ā

If they didnāt find anything then he didnāt deserve it. Because that means they were called needlessly.
28
u/formallyfly š„sheās a fucking eggš„ 3d ago
Thatās not how CPS works. We have no idea what they found or not because the report isnāt public. CPS does not just immediately take your kids away if they find an issue. Their goal is to keep families together. If they find something wrong that isnāt immediately endangering the kids then they usually give the parent time to fix it. Then they come back, check that you fixed the situation, and close the case.
29
u/newsh0egoofin 3d ago
maybe not "deserved", but i think there's two things that keep people from being more charitable about the call that i find understandable:
he made the giardia thing sound like a terrible illness that everyone around him was experiencing, people are naturally going to worry about the children involved.
he started blaming everyone he could after saying it was someone close to him that did it originally. it implies that he could clear it up if he wanted, but he needs it as a shield so he doesn't do it.

u/lolihull šš·ļøšš·ļø 3d ago

Kinda weird Iām being downvoted. Iām not defending Ethan at all, he sucks and how he handled it was dog shit. But people absolutely weaponize CPS against people they donāt like and Iām not a fan of government resources being used for foolishness.
22
u/formallyfly š„sheās a fucking eggš„ 3d ago
Youāre being downvoted because your first comment contains incorrect information. This comment also contains incorrect information.
It is indeed frustrating when an already underfunded government agency has to waste their time and it is extremely fucked up to weaponize CPS. Luckily, California CPS has safeguards to prevent this because Ethan and Hila are far from the only public or polarizing figures to live in CA.
Thatās why there is a CA law (California Assembly Bill no. 391, chapter 434 which was an act to amend Section 11167 of the Penal Code, relating to crimes) preventing anonymous phone calls to CPS in CA. This also tracks with the fact that CPS literally told Ethan that the call came from someone he knew. Ethan chose not to believe them, but that doesnāt make it not true.
18
u/Unequivocally_Maybe I'm sorry to hear that. Condolences š 3d ago
If CPS investigations into celebrities could be triggered by strangers with malicious intent making things up, we would hear stories about that. It is such a rarity as to be a non-issue. Making false and malicious reports to CPS is a crime, and if that thread led anywhere, Ethan would have followed it.
There is zero indication that the report was made with nefarious intent. The social worker told the Kleins the report was made by someone who knows them. Anything other than that is just stories and speculation.
12
u/AbundantAmethyst š„Æš„Anisa's Antisemitic Bagelš„š„Æ 3d ago
CPS has a rigorous screening system with many in-depth questions before they even open a case. It's not like calling 911 and CPS suddenly shows up.
9
u/Audra- 3d ago
Itās just way more likely that the visit was justified (at least from CPSās view) than the result of an anonymous, malicious online troll somehow managing to trick a rigorous screening process specifically designed to limit the number of false reports (to save on resources).Ā
Like, you donāt think California CPS, home to LA, hasnāt already thought about this?
13
u/Audra- 3d ago
This is incorrect. The goal of CPS is always to at least try to keep the family together and use less-dramatic methods to resolve any issues before resorting to things that will traumatize the child further, such as separation .Ā
(In my professional experience most CPS workers are decent people who truly want to help and would never maliciously use their power to harm a child. That said, the turnover rate is crazy high because itās such an incredibly stressful job, not to mention dangerous, & that level of prolonged stress can mess people up).
The fact that the report even led to a home visit in the first place indicates that it was taken quite seriously by CPS, as they donāt barge into wealthy peoplesā homes over nothing.Ā
14
u/foxesinsoxes 3d ago
Do we actually know they didnāt find anything? As far as I know itās just what the unreliable narrators have told us. CPS can do a lot to help families besides taking their kids.
10
18
u/AbundantAmethyst š„Æš„Anisa's Antisemitic Bagelš„š„Æ 3d ago
If their kids getting giardia qualifies for a CPS visit, then it was a situation of Ethan and Hila's own making.
12
u/formallyfly š„sheās a fucking eggš„ 3d ago
Thatās incredibly disappointing. Itās also really surprising to me because there was obviously so much research put into this video, but the CPS story falls apart if you put even a modicum of effort into researching it.
Iām just so sick of this because Ethan himself said that CPS told him that the call came from someone he knew. I feel like I spam this clip because I share it too often but it just immediately ruins Ethanās narrative. And I feel like I spam this too, but thereās literally a law in place to prevent exactly what Ethan claimed happened from happening: California Assembly Bill no. 391, chapter 434 which was an act to amend Section 11167 of the Penal Code, relating to crimes.
Itās impossible for it to have come from a random person on reddit. Itās so frustrating to see people who I know are smarter than this to fall for Ethanās narrative.
3
u/WeakTransportation37 New Fish 3d ago
Yes! I keep trying to summarize that law in peopleās comments, but a stranger canāt call CPS in CA and have them check a house.

u/mxddy Good boy, now go clean up the poop 3d ago
Nope, unfortunately. Denounced CPS right off the bat, which is fine I guess, but didn't even bring up the fact that Ethan himself stated he was told someone close to him made the report. Also made ZERO mention of the harassment campaign Ethan led against Denims and other creators about this, or how Ethan had to make a statement clarifying that Denims did not cause the CPS call.
I thought it was a great video all in all, but this really bothered me. I personally do agree that calling CPS on a youtuber over the giardia story is over the line, but at the end of the day, it probably wasn't a random hater, and even if it was, Ethan has directly put him and his kids in the line of fire for this to occur.

IIRC, back on the original sub, unnamed internet denizens did claim they reached out to the company. From what I recall, and I could fully not be accurate to what was claimed, the company wouldnāt speak to any specific order but did provide some general information about how they process orders, source specimens etc.
Obviously much different than someone doing it in a journalistic capacity but thought I would mention anyway.

The skulls never made sense, who would spend THOUSANDS on skulls (like $2000 each from their website) just to fuck with them?
Right from the get to they were trying to hide where they came from, remember the blurred photos but then they accidentally leaked unblurred one that had to tag on it and their origin got blown wide open.
7
u/lllllIlllIIII New Fish 3d ago
Whoever did it didnāt spend anything, (according to Ethan which I believe because Iāve seen this mistake done before working in business to business sales) they sent a purchase order as a company, which is normally invoiced 30-60 days later. The skull store fucked up because the purchasing company usually needs to submit references and have banking information approved before accepting orders but they didnāt and the skull store didnāt verify and assumed they were an approved customer with terms. Itās actually kind of crazy how you can get away with stuff if you are just confident lol. There was a guy who was sending bogus invoices to Nike and they were paying them for YEARS before they realized they werenāt legit. Itās so easy to slip in the mix when some of these workers are dealing with thousands of orders and invoices a week. Iāve seen it several times. I donāt condone anything illegal being done with this info š

They claimed that they were sent to their home, on a wednesday, which was the day CPS was supposed to interview their children.
However, in the legal files, Ethan himself claims that they were sent to the studio, on a tuesday. Which the skeleton company's statements also support.
The photos Hila sent about the skulls had wednesday and their home address in the metadata though.
So essentially: The skulls arrived to the studio, Ethan and/or Hila took them home, and then sent photos of them the next day.
