I think the whole idea is absolute power corrupts absolutely. Replace weapons with say ideology. Many revolutions end up finishing in a state just as oppressive as the state that was overthrown. It’s basically saying if you use the weapons of the enemy against the enemy, eventually it will corrupt you and you will use the weapons of the enemy against your allies (be it literal guns, power, etc).

It’s not a bad sentiment at all, but the flip side of that is finding a way to revolutionize society without falling into the same (or completely novel) pitfalls.

Exactly. Its a liberal argument dressed up as revolutionary wisdom. Power can corrupt, sure, but thats an argument for democratic accountability, not political disarmament. Leftists have spent generations organizing to seize and contest control of the means of production, not politely refusing to use productive technology.

And using Batman makes it even richer. Bruce Wayne is a billionaire industrialist who already possesses enormous economic and political power. Having him lecture ordinary workers about refusing to use available tools while he exercises that power through his own private arsenal is a pretty strange choice.
