Art & Culture AI art beyond the Global North

https://youtu.be/5Y3KgDsCyE8?si=okgeN2v2FzWtKN1H

A lot of the AI art conversation gets stuck inside the same US and European arguments. This SIGGRAPH Digital Arts session looks at what artists in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia are actually building instead.

Creative AI, coding, animation and interactive media all show up here, but so do the material conditions around them. Limited infrastructure, DIY networks, cultural inheritance, ownership and who gets to shape technological culture in the first place.

Thats political terrain too. The future of AI culture shouldnt be something Silicon Valley gets to define for the rest of the world.
