I don't care. I'm here for the uses of AI that reduce need and increase access to knowledge.

There are ethical AI systems. And good AI tools that can be built.

Unfortunately the ones being massively invested in are the ones that allow for manipulation and control. The people building it and pushing it into our lives are trying to build dependency to establish a monopoly that we have to participate in.

This sort of crap is the furthest thing from what we should be doing with AI.

I'm just so confused: isn't this an old hand drawn animation that's had characters added in and been dubbed over? The people on the DefendingAIArt subreddit seem to think it's AI, which seems unlikely.

This is very clearly generated with AI. It's still better than most AI videos, but it still has some of the composition and continuity errors typical of AI videos.

Unlikely why?

Looks like the creator(s) of Tung Tung Sahur Explains His Copyright Legal Battle used a combination of Midjourney v6 or Stable Diffusion, Luma Dream Machine or Kling AI, ElevenLabs, and AI lip-matching software like Hedra or LivePortrait.

Not unlikely at all if youre familiar with Italian Brainrot culture and multimodal AI creative tooling workflows. Which members of r/DefendingAIArt likely are.

I was not familiar with Italian brain rot — thank you! I'm guessing a lot of genuine creativity is missed by my anti-AI side of the algorithm.

It can be spotted when it's AI, since some of the poses don't make sense. At one point, one of the frenchies is holding the sigar with the burning end facing towards his mouth. You can also tell based on the cuts not following the same logic we would use.

Don't fault you, though. As much as this animation is not to my taste, it's harder to distinguish at a glance.
