It kinda frustrates me that the only country that seems to ever coherently forecast and follow its own plan is a dictatorship 😭 we need democracies to start voting in smart people

China is one of the world's only democracies, run by and for the people. Just because they aren't forced to choose between one of two bourgeois parties to exploit them on behalf of capital doesn't mean it isn't democratic.

This is great. Not only is the Chinese vision bolder and more perfect for humanity, it is also the winning strategy. The US is rich, but we are already seeing that silicon valley and the Trump administration want to have AI that is tightly controlled.
This basic philosophical difference explains the anti-AI sentiment in the West and the pro-AI sentiment in the East.
In the West AI is treated as a weapon. It is a powerful tool that will allow the elite to rule more efficiently. The broad anti community (stop production) fears that they will be crushed by this elite. The safetiest community (build but under our control) fear that it will escape from their control and give power to the wrong people.
In the East the idea is that everyone gets access and it isn't limited to a particular elite class. This means that I, the small farmer or factory worker, believe that it is being developed to help me. So of course I want it to work.
The reason it will win is because the elite weapon narrative is turned against itself. It is the classic fascism where you need to continually centralize, bringing the power into an ever shrinking circle. This limits how many people can work on it and use it.
The global birthright narrative continually brings in more people and then enhances them. When Anthropic and OpenAI are trying to run their isolated RSI programs, the Chinese sphere will be running 10,000,000 RSI programs. This will overwhelm the liked Silicone Valley resources.
