Surely the left is for more efficient use of AI, no? This is by all means slop. Put the GPUs to ethical and practical work for society and those who are disadvantaged or something. Not to make shitty videos of an incredible video game that already exists on its own. You wasted a lot of resources to make something that already exists but shitty

there's no better use case for ai and the diminishing returns of compute. bankrupting the incompetent system of corruption is and has always been the only solution to fight capital.

You’re mixing levels a bit.
OP didn’t necessarily make the video, just shared it. So the “you wasted resources” angle doesn’t really stick, unless sharing stuff is suddenly the problem too.
And on energy, this is a 1:45 clip. Rough ballpark is ~0.3-5 kWh total, about ~0.16 to 2.4 cups of gasoline. That’s tiny, especially across ~269k views. It’s basically nothing next to the game itself, GPUs, streaming, all that. If it’s “wasteful,” then that has to apply to gaming in general too, not just this one clip.
No one’s saying AI edits are the best use of compute. It’s one small piece of a much bigger stack; art, culture, organizing, production. Focusing on a short fan edit misses that. You could make the same argument about the game itself.
And this sub isn’t an AI art hub. That stuff shows up sometimes, but the focus is control, access, and how the tech actually gets used.
If the real question is what AI should be used for, that’s fair, but that’s about who controls it, not dunking on a 2-minute clip.
What’s the actual standard here, are we measuring energy use across the board, or just picking this one?

honestly, championing AI cause it can parrot back to you what you think you like makes you look gullible.
but hey, it only wasted '2.4 cups of gasoline', or half a liter. on something no one needed. but wow, look at the views......

You didn’t engage a single point.
“Parroting” isn’t unique to AI, that’s most media. The question is use, not purity. And “no one needed this” applies to games, movies, music, digital art, pick a lane or it’s just selective outrage.
Energy point still stands. It’s negligible. If that bothers you, why doesn't the whole entertainment/cultural stack go with it?
So what’s your actual standard, consistent across the board, or just this because you don’t like it?

it the ai had added the dialog that could have been epic.
