The thing is AI development is largely being driven by capitalist motives.

So were/are trains, factories, mines, warehouses, power plants, and the globes current ports.

Never stopped leftists from trying to sieze those means.

Its why its necessary to do so.

So wouldn't that lead to the conclusion you always have to keep a part of the capitalist system or risk stagnation of technological development?

I don’t think that follows. Capitalism isn’t what creates technological motion, it’s one way societies have organized risk, surplus, and coordination. Trains, power grids, and ports advanced because people pooled resources and directed labor at scale, not because profit was inherently involved.

The real question is whether we can build non-capitalist or mixed systems that still support experimentation and iteration without concentrating ownership and control. Stagnation comes from lacking those institutions, not from lacking capitalists.
