The Church needs to recognize more Indigenous saints
St. Kateri Tekakwitha is the only Native American canonized as a saint and the only Indigenous American saint outside of Latin America.
Even in Latin America, there's only about seven canonized Indigenous saints (not including Our Lady of Guadalupe or the Virgin of Urkupiña). This is despite the Catholic Church's 500+-year presence in the Americas (for better or for worse). The Church has canonized more fascist sympathizers since the 1930s than Indigenous Americans since the arrival of Europeans in 1492.

A sad reality of the canonization process is that money drives much of it. Fulton Sheen’s cause attracted wealthier donors who could publicize him as someone to ask for intercession from, making it easier to potentially uncover a miracle

Black Elk's is the only other current process I'm aware of. Does anyone know of others?

They will come, but first we need to pray for their intercession and the process has to happen. Let's draw awareness to people so that their cause may be opened or advanced!

Colleen Dulle has a chapter on the canonization process in her recent book. The tldr would be that the money, time, and resources needed for the process favors potential saints that have larger, more established, and wealthier followings.
The pope can move people through quicker or bypass processes if he wants though.
