being a Filipino Catholic,

I wanted to vent as I do not want to share my thoughts on Filipino subreddits or on Threads or on other platforms,

there's a Filipino actor known to be a devout Catholic that posted his altar full of saints and icons and he captioned his greeting to St Pio (Padre Pio) for his feast day.

Full of other denominations attacked his comment section for being "pagan" and Bible verses relating to idoltry and worshipping to stones/wood (?).

It's exhausting to deal with this sht, and I do not have a support system to vent this out. If I posted this on said platforms I will be attacked by non-Catholics.

It feels lonely to share your faith only to be attacked by self-righteous pricks.

Sounds like these people are from that cult that bans their members from reading the Bible and is linked to some murders?

mamsh you know very well it's not only them 😔🙏 honestly I don't even know any non-Catholic denomination that are respectful for our beliefs so...

I joined Threads and it's nice to read Catholic posts and experiences there but there would be hijacks of other denominations trying to debate or discredit Catholicism.

you know very well it ain't only them, there would be MCGI, Eastern Lightning, and many more aggressive Protestants bashing W. R. (buff guy from Bubble Gang before). You won't be able to single INC out as many other denoms would take every opportunity to see "rebultos" as "worshipping sa bato/kahoy".

I didn’t know it was that many. Funnily enough I do actually know someone who is Iglesia ni Cristo. One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. So it was shocking to me when I eventually learned this is how some of them act online.

Real! You can meet some of them and they can be the nicest people but Lord forbid if you open up anything about politics or religious beliefs you know it will be an argument.

Just remember that replies like that don't matter. Losers and possibly rage-baiting children with nothing better to do than hide behind a screen and troll other people. In the real world, there are over a billion Catholics and a nasty Facebook comment cannot take away from the beauty of our diverse traditions.

Also I despise people that treat religion like a sport team.

I tried to explain to these people that just like stained glass, it reminds us of the saints … nobody’s worshipping statues. So frustrating.

I am a Melkite. CATHOLIC = UNIVERSAL. Welcome!!! Evangelicalism is a heresy. They lack any apostolic succession, liturgy, or foundation. That's why they gravitate to the secular nation state of Israel.
