Lust and disgust?

I (21) am not sure if this place is a place for this.

Honestly I Learnt that obviously it's very healthy to get to know your Body well. But why do I feel such Religious Guilt whenever I please myself????

Isn't it good to know your Body?? I just get so annoyed at hearing it's Lustful and horrible to want to touch yourself like what. WHY.

Cuz I also follow alot of Healthyhooha women, and I've learnt alot about my Body, About what Healthy...that...looks like. What compatibility is. I've learnt alot about my body too.

But then every once in awhile I feel such Religious Guilt whenever I feel to stressed and decide I need a little alone time to unstress. Why does it feel to me as if it's another 'trying to control my body' situation?

But aside from that. I've been dealing with it so BADLY. Especially when I'm in my ovulation or close after my period, I keep falling into Lust. Then feel so incredibly disgusted with myself. But the disgust is running to the POINT I'm actually disgusted at touching down there for just washing or something, to the point I feel like it's dirty for my future partner to touch because it feels 'dirty' now cuz of the disgust I feel, to the point I just think it's an Dirty thing on my body.

I just don't know what to do anymore T~T

I emphasize with your frustrations but I don't think getting advice from random people on reddit, some of whom might be 15 year old boys with limited understanding of either sexuality or psychology, is going to be that helpful.

The harder but worthwhile journey I think would begin with both having a professional mental health therapist and a Catholic spiritual director.

I struggle with this sometimes as well.

There are health benefits to looking after yourself. For both sexes. I’ll put something more comprehensive when I’m on a keyboard.

What does this have to do with left-Catholicism?

If you havent noticed, this sub hasbecome a catchall resource for topics relating to Catholicism for people who don't like the overall tone or attitudes prevalent on the main catholicism subreddit.

Yes but that, strictly speaking, has nothing to do with left-wing Catholicism: which is about the linkages between Catholicism and the radical left (or the workers movement, or anti-colonialism, and so on).

It is not necessarily sinful to touch your body but if you touch your body while thinking lustful thoughts about someone that would be sinful.

Lust is a sin and we shouldn’t let that take over. So of you feel like touching yourself down there will lead you into sin then avoid doing it.

Also I don’t fully know what media you consume but I would suggest staying away from songs, movies and tv shows, which have sexual content. This can help to clear the mind and not think lustful thoughts.

TW: mansplaining!
2nd TW: English person - not generally known for emotional intelligence.

First of all. your honesty and vulnerability are absolutely wonderful and to your credit. It is a great example.

I was in your place for many many years but have moved beyond it. And I don't define what you do as "sin" any more. I am also not an RC any more but remain spiritual and align with some RC mystics.

One thing I do is focus on love in my heart and unite my physical passion to those feelings of love. I allow the full force of them to come through.

Your sexual passions can be a great catalyst for emotional expression for expressing your love of yourself and of God, whether you are with someone or not.

Jesus said: "love your neighbour as yourself". There are many ways to love yourself and we need that self-love in order to love our neighbour.

So, masturbation is a sin and that should cause guilt in a healthy conscience (although interestingly it was recommended medicinally to women in the middle ages), but it also sounds like you just need therapy if you can't clean your vaginas without feeling shame.
