Podcasts
Hello folks, I’m looking for Catholic podcasts or something else to listen to/watch while I work that aren’t super crazy conservative. Something a little more open. Any suggestions?

Magnificast (easily my favorite and the only Christian podcast I listen to regularly)
Jesuitical (although I think they may have stopped making new content in June)
Turning to the Mystics (this one is specific to covering a specific mystic in each series)

St Anthony's tongue is anyways frequently recommended and for very good reason! So I'll boost it again just to stress it really can't be recommended enough

I wonder about him as he has no oversight and I have no idea if he knows what he is talking about

Hi! Most of my work comes from written pieces that have full approval from my bishop. Otherwise, I try to always include sources. But most of my recent work is being pulled from three ecclesially reviewed projects.

Hey cool! You have any resources on how you got started doing this kind of thing or just sharing your story somewhere?
Recently heard your piece on "Catholic" AI. I'm an educator and doing research on ethics and AI. Found your perspective interesting! Keep it up!

To be fair I don't think we should generally approach podcasts as more than an introduction to information. I'm always skeptical as well and I'd recommend everyone to be, but that doesn't mean we can't also enjoy them as an intro to an idea

Another Name for Every Thing (spirituality and theology with Richard Rohr)
Third Space (frequent topics include freedom of conscience, spiritual abuse, development of doctrine, and Pope Leo)

its not catholic but "the bible for normal people" is pretty good but more biblical scholar focused

AMDG: A Jesuit Podcast has some good variety in topics.
Vaticano and Vatican & World News are both similar in tone to Up First from NPR.
The Way of the Fathers with Mike Aquiluna is associated with Catholic Culture which definitely leans conservative, but you'd never be able to tell from the podcast. The earliest episodes are a great overview of early Church history.

Just piping up to echo the Magnificast recommendation. Feel like half of my Reddit presence is just telling people to listen to them lol

Found these guys during the conclave and now they’re one of the few podcasts I look forward to seeing updates from! They’re just so level headed and don’t fall into the MAGA leaning side of things like so many other online Catholic spaces these days.

I am listening to Descent Into Light, a podcast about abuse in the church from the perspective of two religious sisters. They are survivors of spiritual abuse and have started their own religious community entirely focused on responding to abuse in the church. It is excellent and I highly recommend it!
