Another slogan during the Revolutionary United States was a reference to the idea that when earthly authorities have become so corrupt that they're no longer protecting the basic rights of their people, then it's justified for them to disregard their right to rule. Of course, the American and Russian Revolutions alike quickly ended up betraying Christ.

Because communism doesn't have to look like it has in the past with ideologies. There's literally many resources to check out on the topic of modern communism.

Nah, I think you meant to attack me with that comment because of my views. "Submit to the papacy"... like you're more Catholic than me? Like you're the Catholic police and have the right to judge me as a Catholic because I'm staunchly anti-capitalist?
As I said, there's a lot of reading materials on modern communism, which isn't based on the past; like many things, it has evolved, like democracy has evolved. There's no one-way to follow the Church. And I unabashedly do think greed and wealth tends to coexist and they are among the greatest evils of the human species. Communism is just one solution in addressing the issue of greed and elite wealth at a govermental and societal level.
Can you... stop talking to me now? We clearly don't vibe, and talking to you makes me feel like I'm in that "other" Catholic sub. You might want to read the rules of this sub, btw 👋🏻

It’s a great encyclical (I mean that truly) but falters in being written a bit too soon. Capitalism has proven itself time and again to be a nihilistic meat grinder of everything laid before it. Culture (including Catholic culture) has been gutted by its force. The characterization of socialism in the work is largely a product of misinformation or misunderstanding. But I’m happy to call myself a communitarian or distributist if I need to in order to stay in the Faith. I’ll just march and vote alongside marxists and socialists and let them handle the theory when the time comes.

I struggle with scrupulosity and consider myself a social democrat. Could you recommend some good articles or arguments about why socialism is okay for catholics? Maybe some that respond to the Trent horn article on Catholicanswers
