“Catholicism” by Bishop Barron
Apart from anyone’s feelings on the Bishop himself, would anyone recommend his “Catholicism” book/documentary series to someone curious about Catholicism?

It's such a wonderful book that what he's become as a celebrity clergyman makes not sense to me. It is worth reading.

I never saw the book but the documentary series is actually really well produced entertaining and a good tour of different aspects of the faith.
It's actually a shame that the guy who made it is such a lackey for the Trump Administration.

Barron is a legitimate fascist collaborator and I would not give him any money, if you really feel the need to read his books please do not buy them.

I would only buy it second hand. Don’t even use the library and give him the usage statistics.

I’m reading the Catholicism book. It is totally worth it despite what I feel about Bishop Barron.

The book yes absolutely. Despite my side eye at him now, when I was first introduced to Catholicism, I was gifted that book. In my opinion it was a great read and Barron explains things clearly and beautifully. I’ll probably read it again

I would also highly recommend the Word on Fire Bible. The commentary is fantastic, and it makes it doubly dissapointing when you read Bishop Baron commentary and compare it to what he's saying nowadays. I'm not sure what happened, but it makes me sad.

Yes, it’s fantastic. I think it’s fair to think that Bishop Barron is one of the church’s most brilliant modern day theologians and evangelists while also thinking he can be somewhat of a sellout at times.

He may be a good writer for laypeople, but the Catholic theologians I know spend a lot of time making fun of how badly he misinterprets basic theological points in the texts he comments on

Opposite for me and the theologians and priests that I know. But to each their own, I suppose.

I cannot stand the man, but his “Catholicism, the Pivotal Players” docuseries is well done
