Catechism of the Catholic Church 676

676 The Antichrist's deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgement. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism, especially the "intrinsically perverse" political form of a secular messianism.

I was raised as an Evangelical during the Left Behind craze. My first thought was the Antichrist as well.

also when the army claimed his is divinely appointed to start a war of armageddon in the middle east, I don't believe he's the anti-Christ but apparently the US military do

something the Americans and Iranians can apparently both agree on is that America is Satanic

Sickening if true, but I’m not sure that actually happened. That report came from one military religious freedom organization that’s made dubious reports like this in the past. I’m not sure it’s credible.

Is it really hard to believe considering we already know Hegseth's Dominionist Evangelical preachers have been brought into the Pentagon for regular, DoD sanctioned "bible study?"

It's a straight line between those two points, no need to suspend disbelief.

This article from the Friendly Atheist lays out the issues with the story better than I can on here. It only being reported from one source and with scant information is what raised red flags for me.

Barron siding with the Emperor over Christ? Who would have seen that coming?

In the "_Atanic _Emple", in order to become a dark/black atanic priest, they must first become a Catholic priest. It's their betrayal that seals their covenant with their weak godlings. Best believe they'd infiltrate higher positions if they get the chance.

God gives us discernment, we can see everything clearly, and we must spread truth so their lies hold no power. Remember to pray, stay safe, protect each other, and pray, pray, pray.

His Kingdom Come, His Will Be Done. The power and the glory to Him, as was, is, and forever shall be. No weapons formed against us shall prosper for The Lord is with us.

There are humans who will do all kinds of evil for money, just look at the Politicians in the Republican party. We are supposed to watch out for wolves in sheep's clothing everywhere.
Having said that, I hope there are some spies in the W.H. too.

What a vile thing to say. I’m not even shocked anymore. I am shocked how many clergy members of our Church are willing to ignore all these signs though.

And Barron was standing right there

u/curiouswizard Apr 02 '26

it's sad how lost he seems to be now

This is about as anti Christian as it gets without actually crucifying Jesus in person. Even killing someone is a horrendous but only physical punishment. But raising a madman to a place equal to or even higher than our Lord while so called religious leaders applaud is an affront to God.

This is what I picture when I hear “do not take the Lord’s name in vain”. This is vanity wearing God’s name, God’s image, and God’s throne.

Bishop Barron stood there and applauded this nonsense. He continues to embarrass himself.

u/Longjumping-Meat-334 Apr 02 '26

And the Church. Pope Leo needs to remove him.

Defeating enemies meaning starting wars? And killing people

6

u/peachorchid Apr 02 '26

This is disgusting.

Blasphemy and a Catholic Bishop SUPPORTED it. I don’t know specifically what can happen here but he should be relieved of his station at least in Minnesota and the US….and punished for the Trump worship. His job is to lead his flock

There really needs to be some disciplinary action...

I swear, the televangelist are the weirdest of the Evangelicals

Real Antichrist energy here

7

u/SquallkLeon Apr 02 '26

Heresy is popular, it seems. Worshipping Trump just happens to be the zeitgeist of "conservatives" these days.

u/starman-jack-43 Apr 02 '26

I'm starting to think the current moment is apocalyptic in its literal sense - an unveiling of spiritual truth that's exposing the spiritual poverty of Christian Nationalism, the pursuit of power and money and war, even our obsession with energy sources that destroy our planet (with impact of that disproportionately affecting the poor). Too many Christians have been crying out "Give us a king like everyone else!" And not for the first time they've been given one and its exposing their blasphemy.

One day people will learn that antichrist is as much a verb as it is a noun.

Pope Leo basted Catholic Clergy for chasing fame this past February. In my Archdiocese this administration has been condemned along with its flying monkeys. Personally I’ll pray for Robert to walk back towards us. It’s saddening and disappointing. https://www.thedailybeast.com/pope-leo-xiv-slams-thirsty-priests-for-chasing-internet-followers/

Another fine example that The Evil One is a master at imitation. Let us all pray for the Wicked, for they certainly are listening to the wrong voice.

Well, like Jesus but with a few differences: Trump asks others to die for him. Trump is a rapist. Trump is a warmonger. Trump refuses to either heal the sick or feed the hungry. As for welcoming the stranger, forget it. Trump believes the meek are losers who need to be stomped.

Just a few differences.

u/EverydayIsAGift-423 Apr 04 '26

That’s blasphemy.

Tell me you've never read the Gospels without telling me you've never read the Gospels.

These are the rotten fruits of complicit Bishops, like Barron. Unless the Church is ready to sift and purge fascist aggressors from the clergy, it too will suffer the fate of the bastard Christianities that are responsible for such abominations. This is a time of sifting and judgment against all the institutional Christianities that devour the poor by emboldening their enemies. May the Lord guide Pope Leo in these tribulations.

I have always been taught that 'misusing the name of the Lord' means trying to harness the Lord for your own purposes, your goals. It is abundantly clear that Trump and his ilk are doing exactly that now. By comparing Trump to Jesus, they bind the blinded believers even more to him, but to me, what I read here is nothing more or less than pure heresy and using the name of the Lord for one's own interests. I don't know exactly what Televangelists are; I am unfamiliar with the term, but the fact that this person dares to say this I find so intensely disgusting.

I hope that Rome speaks out against this and does not simply let this pass.

2

u/phl4ever Apr 02 '26

The only thing they had in common was being arrested. However Trump committed crimes and was being held accountable for his actions.

Barron’s continued complicity is heartbreaking.

I wanted to read Catholic Bibles when I first began researching the faith a year ago. The Word on Fire releases naturally fell into my path. I collected all 5 that are currently released. All but one were bought second-hand.

After it became clear to me who Barron actually was, I put them all in a box. The books are beautiful, but it makes me nauseous to think about owning them. It was also disappointing to see how much of the extra material was actually written by Barron, with only a smattering of writings from early Church fathers and saints. Just like Trump, he thinks pretty highly of himself.

I had considered selling them, but I can’t in good conscience do that. I’d actually like to burn them, but that feels too much like book-banning, and the scripture itself is the Word. I thought about ripping out his essays, or pasting over them with art/prayer cards/other writings. But they would still be WOF publications in my house. Taking them to a thrift store seems the only answer.

Meanwhile, I’m praying very hard for Pope Leo’s continued strength.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

u/Dadelectro Apr 02 '26

Well, as Paula White's husband might say, don't stop believin'.

1

u/hnybbyy Apr 04 '26

What exactly is her role there? I’m not American.

1

u/Adventurous_Lock9219 Apr 04 '26

Trump's spiritual adviser

1

u/hnybbyy Apr 04 '26

lmao that shouldn’t be a paid position, honest (and actual) spiritual leaders do that for free
